Hey guys! i have a question.. i have a 6 month old goldendoodle puppy.. i have posted before about his mouthing issues and nipping my husband and i. my husband wanted to wait to neuter him until about 1 year old.. because he heard it can stunt his growth and the size of his head. but this mouthing thing is driving us crazy! does neutering a puppy calm them down a little? is that really true? what was your personal experiance? thanks xoxo

From my experience with my dog - Toby the pirannha :) - nothing helped until his baby teeth fell out.  Then the nipping stopped.  Until then, he drove me nuts.  We did have him neutered at 6 months though, and he is 80 pounds, so I wouldn't say it stunted his growth at all.  :)

We have waited and neutered early and I am a big fan of the 6 month time frame.  We have a happier time with our dogs if we neuter them and spay them at 6 months.  Tia (my service dog) was spayed at 6 months and she is so great.  Good luck with your decision.

Any time now.  It is so important to neuter your dogs (pets) as you do not want them to be bothered by the hormones for reproduction.  My male dogs (in fact all my dogs) have been neutered early but when a female went into heat in the neighborhood, they still dug on the fence until their pads were bleeding.  You just can't fight nature.  It is just a good neighborly thing to do to have your pets neutered.
