I think doodles are a little hit or miss when it comes to size. Our dog was one of the tiniest in her litter, and I think ended up being one of the biggest, full-grown at 38 lbs. They are all sweet and wonderful and adorable, and we adapted to having a counter surfer when we really thought we'd just have an over-sized lap dog. ;-)
Whoa. That does not sound like a mini to me! I thought our "medium" GD was big, and she weighs almost 50 pounds at 14 months. I can't imagine a dog that big coming from those parents, but I'm no dog breeder/geneticist. My guess is she will get into the 70's or 80's, based on our experience with our dog.
Oh no, Lara. Maybe I wasn't clear. She's 16 months, and she stopped growing at 38 lbs. She's just not the 25 lbs we'd thought we were getting. I do know of a medium who grew to 80 lbs though.
Tara weighs 20 pounds as an adult and she weighed 14lbs when she was 5 months old. It sounds like you're going to have a teeny girl!!
Hahaha...I should have read more carefully!
Wow, that sounds more like a toy or teacup size. Nimbus stopped growing around 6 months. He was 17 to 18 lbs then. Now he's 23.
My breeder actually breeds toy and teacup doodles that are only 5-10 lbs fully grown.
Size is all hit and miss. I too have a mini but was told to expect the weight range to be 30-40lbs. From the full weight you mentioned it sounds like you've got yourself a toy not a mini. Mini's should be mini poodles to mini doodles. Or so I was told.
Back to weight Spike was slow growing. He stayed in the 20lb range forever. He JUST tuned 10 months and he's now at 29.8lbs as of a weigh in last weekend. I'm still not sure what his final weight will be.
Regardless of their size doodles are just a whole lot of cute in whatever size package they come in :)
My guess is that she will be no more than 8 pounds. The smaller the dog, the sooner they reach maturity. She will be almost full grown at 6 months, adding only a tiny bit of weight after that and none after 8 months.
