Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I just wandered how much the average mini doodle costs?  I think we paid an extremely low price for Cody considered what I've seen on the internet,   I wander if we didn't get a puppy mill puppy.  I don't know how else you would find a puppy if it wasn't for the internet.  Can you share your story of how you searched, and found your dood and how much?
Thanks!

Hi, I hope it's ok for me to post here as a breeder.......Miniatures cost more for breeding in most cases, since it can involve a vet assisting with the breeding. I have an occasional litter of Miniature Doodles - 20-30lbs from one or two of my doodle-moms and I just charge $1750 for those with the fleece or wool coats. IF they have f1-type, scruffy coats at 6wks, I take the price down just under $1000 because that's where many f1 puppies are priced. Now that we have had a few litters we do see less shedding from the scruffy f1b's but still, if they shed I think the price should be adjusted. Anyone else agree?

This is a couple pics of our mini-doodles:

We paid $500 for Chester, our mini F1b Labradoodle, he previous owner needed to rehome him at 5 months as her son was allergic to him, I think she paid $1500. He for sale on a local community website.

Our F1 Goldendoodle cost us $875 earlier this year, the breeder gives first pick to a local therapy group and then sells the remaining puppies to cover her costs.

Both are wonderful pets and are very loving and loyal.
I did use the internet and then I went. We picked Ned - er my DH picked Ned. He was a charmer from the beginning. The breeder normally charged $2,500 for the Australian mini/medium pups but due to extenuating circumstances we paid much less.
I searched the internet also but narrowed it down to local breeders I could visit. That is also how I found this site . I was looking for feedback (negative or positive) on the breeder we ended up getting Lucca from and it turned out there was a group on here. We visited a few breeders before before we made the choice as to who to go with. Through this site I have met many dogs from our breeder and now we are getting #2 from her.
I have met a few of Ned's siblings and half siblings on dk. Isn't that fun!

My Rosie is a F1b Miniature Labradoodle...The breeder "Gails Labradoodles" actually lives in my area and I found her thru word of mouth and then I looked at her site on the internet and by coincidence my vet is the same vet she has and I heard nothing but positive things about her and when i called her she invited me to come and look at her premises to see how she does things and also she asked me the right questions, so if you can possibly find a breeder where you live and ask if you can see their premisies, I did not have to ask Gail she pretty much asked me to come and see how she operates...I had to put down a $300 deposit and then all together we paid $2200....

The breeder that I went to is a farming family and has been breeding doodles on the side for over ten years.  The Mom (a retired nurse) is the main person in charge of the breeding business and the 3 kids help out.  They've got a good reputation. I paid $1,500 (CDN) plus sales tax (5%) for Charlie and took him home at 8 weeks.  He was vet checked and had his first set of shots.  I don't think they've raised their price in a long time.  There was a huge waiting list which I was on for almost a year.  I had to fill out a 4 page application form (which was basically a psyche eval) plus the Mom did a 20 min phone interview with me before she'd even put me on the waiting list.

The initial cost is really nothing comparing to what I've spent since I got him, with all the vaccination shots, neutering, training classes, daycares, kennel/food/other random things, etc etc.  The most expense is actually toy/treat since he destroy most toys within a few days and only food/treat I buy is made in Canada. I don't think I've gone shopping for cloth/makeup/girl stuff since I got Charlie, but I have to buy something for him almost every other day.  He's so spoiled but I just can't help myself.

I paid $2,000 for Callie. She was from Grandview in Vermont but I don't think she breeds anymore.

We paid $2500. Our breeder is in the Sacramento general area. We chose a local breeder so we could go visit. If for some reason we had chosen one further away, we would have flown out to meet the pups and check it out, prior to taking home the pup. Couldn't deal with potentially supporting a puppy mill :-(

The pups are born and raised in the family home and the girls only have 2-3 litters each then they're done. They tested both parents, and we were also able to speak to both references, and the vet, to ask any questions.

When we took Fenway in for his first vet visit, our vet (3+ hours south!) had not only heard of them, and seen 10+ of their pups in the last couple of years, and said they did great work. Even though we had felt really confident in our decision in the end, it was great to get it validated.

We have a miniature multigen Australian labradoodle that we got from a wonderful small family run breeder.  We were able to meet the pup, her dam and her dam's dam.  They also gave us extensive information about the breed and continue to be a wonderful support for us in our first 5 weeks as a labradoodle owner.  Our pup is really the best puppy we could as for--completely non shedding beautiful wavy fleece fur, wonderful disposition, smart and super easy to train.  We paid about $2500 but my husband and I were just remarking this morning on how it was worth every penny.   From my research it seems like if you want a true Australian multigen labradoodle that $2500 is pretty much the going price from a reputable breeder.

My husband and I researched several Doodle breeders in Northern California and the price ranged from $1,800 to $2,500.  We ended up paying $2,000 for Ginger and don't regret it at all.  She is everything we hoped for.
