I love Darwin's name. Daria ( Dar e a ) was a name considered for Starlit.
Spud= Potato simple enough. It was also an endearment name my husband called his God daughters.
When we brought Spud home and placed him on the floor, already a pompous arrogant puppy, he went straight to the potato bag grabbed a spud and ran, " Cool, let's play ball"
Rosco has something to do with English deer in the woods.

Our late great Thule's definitions include:
1. The northernmost region of the habitable world as thought of by ancient geographers.
2. A distant territory or destination.
3. A remote goal or ideal: "the ultima Thule of technology, the ne plus ultra . . . the answer to every earthly problem" (John Gould).
I knew that "Jack" was a form of the name John, which is of Hebrew origin, and means "God is gracious." But I decided to look it up anyway. And here's what I found:
Though originally a nickname for John, Jack is frequently given as a stand-alone name today. In the UK, it has been the most popular name for baby boys for the last thirteen years. In English-language slang, "you don't know jack" means "you don't know anything." "Jack," in this situation, stands in for a cruder phrase. In American slang, jack can also be used to say something has been disturbed or messed up (e.g. "this is jacked up"), or as an onanistic euphemism.
LOL! So "Jack", the most popular name for a baby boy in the UK for 13 years, also means, basically, excrement. Or disturbed! What happened to "God is gracious"???
My poor doodle!
When we were throwing names around I did throw out Potter :) Of course it was quickly nixed. So I agree, Albus was the greatest Wizard of All Time. My favorite series of books I have ever read. Wish there were more.
