Consider yourself lucky! I have one that is now 9 months old and she never has and still doesn't sleep during the day at all. She's the "busiest" pup I've ever had. She does sleep through the night though but is up and ready to go by 5:30 a.m.
Emily, our Libby is a sleeper too and she is almost two years old. She has her exercise time, walks, and play times but also loves her naps. She is very mellow and just goes with the flow in our family. She slept through the night since we got her at ten weeks and snuggling his her most favorite past time. Sometimes I am jealous at how much she gets to sleep, ha ha!
Lily is pretty sleepy too. She's really active in the morning right after breakfast and then again right after dinner. The rest of the day she's pretty happy to lay around and snooze as long as the kids don't get her riled up. I do notice the days that I don't walk her enough she is definitely more hyper though. We had a few days of illness here when I just couldn't walk her and wow she was crazy those days.
How long are your walks? I live on a 90-acre farm so Blossom not only goes on walks but she also gets to go out and run around by herself some as well. It doesn't seem to matter how much exercise she gets, still wants to play some more and most of all she wants attention. Spoiled rotten little brat!! LOL!
Wow, 90 acres! Lily doesn't get anything like that! We usually do 2 walks a day 30-40 minutes each. She also gets to run around in our fenced yard quite a bit. We're working on "fetch" but as much as she loves to retrieve she doesn't love to return. :)
Thats so funny! Daphne loves to run after a all or frisbee as well but does not return it. She brings it within the vicinity of us but will not bring it back and give it to us. At least not outside. Inside she loves to play and will bring the toy back. Outside?? Forget it!
Daphne is also a sleeper! If we don't have to be anywhere in the morning, Daphne will just lie around in bed until we make her go outside. This morning she didn't go out till 9:30. If I get up earlier to go to the bathroom, she might raise her head and look at me but usually she just keeps right on sleeping. She is pretty active playing throughout the day. I assume she goes to sleep when we are not home. We usually take her outside around 11pm for her last potty break and then she gets up when we make her.
Darwin slept 10 hours per night as a puppy if we let him, then napped for almost the whole day. He'd have spurts of energy if we took him outside but would immediately konk out for a couple of hours when we brought him back in. He's still this way. :-)
Charlie will be 2 this month and he prefers to watch tv in a big leather chair than take a walk! He is a couch potatoe! I walk 30 minutes a day with him and about 15 minutes into the walk, he slows way down, them sits and looks at me as if to say can you carry me the rest of the way! I am thankful he is not crazy full of energy! Our new little doodle is 4 mos old and a little more active, but he goes for a little while and then drops like a ton of bricks and sleeps for several hrs! I am loving these two!
Linda, your Doodles are just sooooo adorable! Everyone that walks in our house just zooms in on Charlie Brown and Beau Doodle's card! Our cards are up on a door in our family room and they definitely get attention from visitors! We have had so much fun receiving these cards and seeing all the Doodles that we hear so much about on DK! Sounds like we both have mild, sleepy, and most lovable doggies ever! My DH and I are very happy with Libby's laid back personality.
Thanks Lonnie. I so agree with you! Have a wonderful holiday season!
Traz is 7 months old now. We walk him twice a day, morning and afternoon/evening - if we don't, he has his "puppy" moments and starts getting into mischief. He is pretty mellow the rest of the time and lays around wherever we might be. Oh, one exception is after his bath...very energetic/crazy after he gets out of the tub. Generally settles down after a short romp around the house or yard. Traz is part of a service dog breeding program so his laid back personality is perfect for this program. You wouldn't want him or his puppies being too crazy if he were owned by a special needs individual. We love our mellow boy :-)
