He came home around 10am and we're in love already :-) He's been a happy guy all day but I can tell we're gonna have a lot of work ahead of us! Will try to attach two pics of our new baby :-)
So far he peed in the house once - with no warning signal at all - and twice outside. We really praised the outside times but I know he had no idea what was going on. No poo yet...
He's nipping a bit but I'm trying to learn from your experiences and telling him NO, putting my hand around his muzzle for 2 seconds, and then giving him a toy to chew. Sounds like an OK plan?
Wish us luck tonight! :-)

Congrats on getting Griffin! He is very cute. I brought Murfee home on the 23 of March so it's been 2 weeks. I love my boy so much. He is much more secure at his furever home now. His sister Emily (9 year old Golden)has warmed up to him and they are actually beginning to play.
Murfee slept in his kennel next to my bed for the 1st 10 days or so. One night I was watching t.v. in bed and had him up there with me chewing on a kong. I fell asleep and the next thing I know is Murf is yapping for me to get up and take hime out. (it was 3:30 am). So he has been my bed buddy ever since. I live alone so the king size bed is plenty big enough for the 2 of us. He is really good at letting me know when he needs to go out. It is I that needs to be trained to listen to him and not delay.
We are in the middle of the chewing phase and although I hate it, I know it will pass sooner than later. But I really hate it when he grabs ahold of my pants and wants to be dragged around. I am doing what you are and always try to have a toy within reach.
Enjoy this time with him and take many pictures. I am the only one who doesn't see the growth because I see him every day. But my neighbors are in awe of the growth. It's only when I look at the pictures do I see the changes.
Murfee is a baby doll! What a cutie!
Thanks Deb, I couldn't agree more!
Griffin is adorable, enjoy these days as they grow up so fast.
Thanks everyone!
He did finally get his appetite and had two good poo's outside - whew! Last night was EXHAUSTING. He only needed to go out once but he was very lonely in the crate, even at the foot of our bed. We may move the crate to the kitchen and I may sleep out there for a few nights to get him adjusted. Not sure yet.
Was planning to do a bit of training on things today and hasn't panned out lol. But oh yes we are totally smitten :-) and I think he's grown already lol!
Great news! Last night was definitely better than the first and I'm very hopeful tonight will be even better :-) I am soooo tired!
We're working on "sit" and "come" a little too, while also working on the no nipping thing. So far so good...
I love the name Duke - my dad's hero is John Wayne and I grew up on those movies lol!
Congratulations on your new puppy, Griffin! He sure is an adorable little guy! The first few weeks will be very exhausting, and you'll find yourself wishing you could fast forward 3 months... I know I did! Enjoy this time, though, because it is fleeting in the big scheme of things.
What a cutie! Congratulations! :)
