Husband feels like he has to walk on egg shells in his own house

Hi Everyone, I need your advice on my 3 month old Bella.  My husband has been very sweet to Bella from day one, giving her the same affection and attention that we all have been giving her, but everytime Bella sees him she gets very timid and sometimes tinkles on the floor.  Bella seems to have no problems walking up to say hello to women and children, but always gets very shy and runs away from all men when they try to come near her. My husband doesn't want to upset her everyday, and lately has tried to stay out of Bella's way in the house.  Have any advice for me? Thanks

How is the bonding going??

Hubby tried the doggy snacks.  Bella was hesitant but willing.  What I can't figure out is why she is like this with all men that try to approach her.  She cowards and tries to ran away like a frightened cat.  We have had her in puppy school and she is in the top of her class with obediance training, she is so easy to train, but when it come to social skills she gets a "A" meeting smaller pups, "C" meeting much larger pups, "D-" if the pups owner is a male.  Hubby is away on a business trip at the moment.  I hope when he gets back that they can spend more alone time together. Thanks for asking.

Sounds like your pup developed 'male' issues early on as a young pup. Maybe she didn't have a man in the household when she was with her mom and litter mates. I think what others have advised is worth trying, especially having your husband and Bella spend quality time together, alone, playing her favorite game, or quietly rolling a ball down a hall. My husband plays a LOT of fun games with Lucy (he's the fun one, I'm the caregiver and trainer), and they have as strong a bond (if not stronger) as Lucy and I. One thing I would advise, is not to force any interaction between your husband and Bella, and ensure your husband doesn't make any fast movements around her which could come across as threatening to a timid puppy. Let her come to him to investigate the fun, maybe spreading treats around him to get her involved. Hopefully, with a little patience and calm interaction she'll come around.
Thanks, Bella did have a break through this Sunday at the park with my girlfriends husband.  He really got down on his knees and played in the dirt with her.  I'll have to mention this to my husband when he gets back from his trip.
