This is the only place I can say this, everyone else will say "I told you so" lol. Puppy woke at midnight when hubs came to bed, 3 am when my youngest daughter came in and up for the day at 5 am. My oldest is having friends over to decorate gingerbread houses today. Not sure I'll make it!! I feel like I did when I had a new baby.

Oh my! I think you need some coffee!!  The good news is the puppy will crash with you when festivities are over!

Hang in there- it will get better! The only thing that got me through the first couple of months of puppyhood was trying to see the humor in it all. Life goes by so fast. Before you know it, you will be looking back and saying, "remember that year we got a puppy right before Christmas....."

That part gets better pretty fast. My guy is 5 months and he slept until 9 a.m. this morning. I am the one that gets him up as he doesn't make a peep in there until I get him out.

It took time and some tough love as he sounded like a hyena in the crate the first month. He absolutely hated it and I was exhausted. Now as he excitedly runs in the crate at night all ready for bed, my husband and I look at each other, laugh, and mimic the awful sound he made. He just stopped one night and just started sleeping longer and longer. The beginning was a tough time for me. I said it once and I'll say it again.... I will never have another puppy!
LOL, I remember saying those exact words, and 3 years later I had another puppy! Whole different experience the 2nd time, with a whole other set of challenges. I wouldn't change a thing though. The joy these 2 bring more than makes up for those first couple months of exhausting puppyhood!

9am??? lucky!

Over winter break if we went to bed around midnight, he slept until 10! My son is back to school now and we are back to getting up a little before 8. I can tell he preferred sleeping later! We all did!
Lol. I tried putting my pup to bed at midnight. Up at 4:30am sharp the next day.

Our breeder told us to tough it out.  Put towels in the crate and let him cry .  It only took 2 nights.  He wet in his crate, but then he slept through the night.  He is 15 weeks old and sleeps until 7:30. No accidents at all!   that is when I get up or else he would sleep longer.  It is hard if other family members are around during the night though.

Yup, we were sleep deprived in the beginning with our pup, who is now 9 months old.

And we had forgotten about that, having not had a puppy since 16 yrs ago!

And no hormones pump in to save you like they did with a new baby. But it goes fast, as already mentioned by others...hang in there and vent here any time!

Yup. Having a puppy is al lot like having a baby. And like the baby the puppy will get past this waking up so often. Let him cry himself to sleep. You will be able to tell by the type of whine whether it is more than just wanting attention.
I found that Hurley slept through the night when we started letting him sleep on the bed with us. He was very restless all night long when in the kennel.

Hang in there. This will pass.

Well he must have heard me complaining! He slept last night from 9-5!! Went into his crate without any fuss either. I should have my kids friends over more often
Way to go pups! That's great news, and you know he can do it now ;)
