I have a 4 month old puppy who gets me up 2x at night to go potty. I get her up take her straight out and put her back in her kennel. No play at all. How old was your puppy when he started sleeping thru the entire night?
I think Macey was about 4 months old when she started sleeping through the night. There are still some nights, though, even at almost 7 months, that she wakes us up in the middle of the night whining to go out. We've found that making her go out right as we are going upstairs to bed helps with this...I guess it has kind of become our routine!
My Gracie probably started around 4 months. Even now, the last thing we do is go out to "do her business", before going upstairs. She hasn't gotten up in the middle of the night in 6 months or so. What time does your pup get her dinner? Maybe it is too close to bedtime, causing her digestive system to still be churning during the night. Gracie's evening meal is usually before 5. She still goes to bed around 8. She likes to sleep!
When we got Toby, the breeder told us the pups were used to going to bed when they did (the people), and getting up when they did, and that we should expect the same. We brought him home at 8 weeks, and I honestly think we only had to get up maybe 4 or 5 times, and not on consecutive days, just a little randomly. That is one thing I can't complain about! We used to take away his water at 8 p.m., now we leave it till 10. We always go to bed at 11, and are up at 7 on weekdays, but he'll sleep in with us until 8 or 8:30 on the weekends. His crate is in our room.
We have 2 doodles, our puppy is just 5mo old and we still get up. We did get a break when our 1.5 yr thought he should sleep in the crate with the puppy, then she NEVER got up at night. It has gotten better, Piper was spayed last week and before that she would sleep from 9pm to 5am whick works for us. We do take away all her food and water by 6pm and I have no problem waking her up at 10pm and making her go out, remember she has no problem waking me at 3am!!!
Good luck it has gotten better for us and I know it will get better for you. Happy Spring

The first week I had Riley home at 8 weeks old he got up around 4am to go out. After about a week he made it until 6am and after 11 weeks he was making it from 11pm-7am. I never took away or limited his water in anyway. He is 4 months old now and easily can make it until 8am.
Abby was about Macy's age - 4 months when she started sleeping all thru the nite - but my hubby is up at 5am and takes her out right away after he gets up. At what times is she getting you up??
Fozzy started sleeping through the night by 10-12 weeks. He is almost 5 months old and I trust him enough that he has been sleeping in my bed, or if he chooses, not for over a month now. I don't even take him out first thing in the morning,he is ok waiting til I get out of the shower. I know most people are probably terrified that he is not in a crate, but I see no reason for it if he is not destructive and does not have any accidents. I would cut back his water a couple of hours before bed. That is what I did with Fozzy for the first month or so.
Our new puppy is almost four months old and still has to be taken out at least once during the night (my husband takes him out around 3am) and even then he doesn't always make it to 6.00am when I get up and sometimes pees in his bed. Our first dog housetrained really quickly so this is driving me crazy, especially as the new puppy barks and barks and barks to let you know he wants to get up!!
Have you tried limiting the water at night? Initially we took Whopper out in the middle of the night but soon realized she was training us instead of the other way around. Around 4 months she would go out for the last time around 11 and than around 6:30 we would hear her again after a few nights of ignoring the barking in the middle. If he's continually peeing in his bed, it could be that he's not feeling the discomfort of the accident because the bed is absorbing most of the liquid.
I'm wondering if it is more that he doesn't want to be alone. His crate is in the kitchen, our older dog does sleep downstairs but he sleeps out in the living room, so I am thinking he might be lonely. We have been thinking we might try leaving him out in the living room too and see if that helps him to sleep through..... still working on what to do for the best.
Angel started sleeping all night around 3 months old. We play with her for a while before bed and we take away her water by 8pm. We put her to bed at 9pm. Then my husband lets her back out to do her stuff around 10-11pm. She will sleep until the rest of the house wakes up. (weekdays ~ 6:45am Weekends ~7:30am) I don't know if size matters with this but I remember you saying your doodle is only 15lbs. Angel is 30 lbs at 4 months. She was probably close to 20lbs before sleeping through til morning.
I think if she goes out and does her stuff, then will go straight back to sleep without a fuss, she must really need to go. Angel did that before she started sleeping all night. She only woke up maybe twice since we got her where she wanted to play. Maybe she needs to be a bit bigger before she can hold it that long. I don't know.
True - I was told the smaller the dog, the smaller the bladder. Toby is fairly big - about 55 pounds at 7 1/2 months. We let him out and make sure he has a chance to pee right before we go up, and we put him right out in the morning.
