Well, Addie is approaching 6 months old and is a joy. She also has a few odds and ends that I wonder about, one of which many require some attention.

1. Addie like to bury things, both inside and outside, especially things for chewing or eating. I have given up buying her antlers because, outside, they end up under ground, or inside, they end up under furniture or between cushions or . . . you get the idea. Outside, she digs up her treasures and then re-buries them. All this is entertaining as I have never had a dog before that buries bones, etc. although I know it is so common it is a cliche.

2. Addie often rubs her face on anything at hand - chair legs, coffee table, sides of furniture, the floor. She has an entertaining action where she lies on her side on the floor and "swims" with her legs paddling and her head rubbing the floor. This is something about which I could use some advice. Her beard is relatively short because it is also usually wet. I check it for irritation and anything unusual but so far everything looks normal to me. I will also bathe her, especially her beard, and try to dry the beard as well as I can. She is not a fan of a hairdryer, so I towel dry as best I can. Is this something that should concern me or should I have fun watching her sideways swimming?

Oh, as an aside, Addie is short for Adelaide and I find myself calling her Adelaide more and more often as Addie seems too short for her and her antics.

Sadie rubs her face on all the furniture, whether her face is wet or not. She seems to particularly like doing it first thing in the morning as an incentive to get me to the back door more quickly to let her out. :)

George does the swimming thing and puts both paws over his eyes and rolls from his back to his side..a lot...it makes me giggle....he did it most often when I was training him to use the bells to go out, and when he has a new treat or toy to play with..I think it's just something they do...

Callie will do the swimming thing outside in the grass.  She loves to roll on her back out there but she never does it inside...which I think is strange.  Grass must feel extra good to her :)

And my shih tzu hides his bones inside.  He will push pretend dirt over it and think it's covered.  So weird how they know to cover it with pretend dirt when he never has done it outside. I don't let him do it anymore after watching Doggie Dan and I take them away if he doesn't want to chew it.

One of the dogs we had when I was growing up would "bury" things in corners of the house--we always knew he'd been at it because he'd have carpet fibers all over his nose!

Both my doodles rub their muzzles on the floor as well, usually after eating. I've always thought it was their way of cleaning their faces, even though I wash them after eating. They'll also do it after wearing their Canny Collars (head halters) during a walk, like it just feels good to rub them afterward. Neither hide their antlers, though, although Oscar goes to great lengths to cover his poos... lol.

Thank you, everyone for your comments. It is nice to know Addie's muzzle rubbing/sideways swimming is not that unusual. Now I can just enjoy watching instead of worrying that it could be teething or irritation. I guess I am just a nervous mommy.
