Hi, all:

I just wanted to share this "little" weekend project. On one side of the house we have a narrow alley that we never did anything with it. Now with our dog, it became the potty area, but, it being all dirt, meant Apollo would get his paws dirty on every trip and muddy when raining.

So, I found these instructions on the web to build a potty area and decided to give it a go this weekend. It is a success; Apollo knew what it was for right away, no more pee odor and it is super easy to clean.

These are the instructions:

And this is how it turned out at home:

(I just need to finish up with some plants or something... I'll come up with something over the next weekend)

Thanks for sharing! I have been brainstorming something similar.
Looks great!!! That's exactly what we did except we don't have that lovely walkway towards it. Ours is on the right side of our yard. Got it from the Same website too. Lol. It's so nice not having to worry about stepping on poo when we play on the grass! It's also very easy to clean to! All we did was hose it down once a week!
This is such a great idea. It looks great.
Very nice. I am currently trying to figure out a potty area.

Great idea! After 5 weeks of having our puppy (now 12 weeks) we have been thinking the same thing because our small Chicago city backyard is filled with pee-marks. I also have a small alley way along side our house that already has pee gravel - we are thinking about a synthetic, pet friendly grassy area  to replace this -did you consider synthetic grass - just curious? I am having a hard time keeping tiny rocks and sticks out of my puppy's mouth. Maybe I should just wait until my puppy outgrows this phase and direct her to the pee gravel area along side of the house we already have.

I did for a minute but then thought that it would defeat the purpose. With the synthetic grass some of the poo would remain there and it would retain the pee odor; with the pea pebbles, the pee drains down to the soil 10 inches below and I would pick the pebbles soiled with the poo; the only drawback is refilling it after a while.

VERY NICE!!!!

Thank you so much for sharing this.  A friend had suggested somthing similar, but using sand.  This is a much better idea.
