What do you wish you had bought (or you're so GLAD you bought) for your puppy when he/she came home?

I'm doing our Amazon shopping this week - (we live in a tiny town, no Petsmart here) and here's what I've bought so far

large crate
large crate bed
large crate cover

food

food water dish

treats

What else do I need? Any toy recommendations? I was thinking a kong, nylabones, maybe that "hide a squirrel" toy...Help I only have a few days!

Also - I'm freaking out about this polar vortex. How in the world am I going to potty train in this cold? I will be home most of the time with my young daughter who won't leave my hip - and trying to carry her and take the puppy out every 30 minutes I must be nuts!

I got the leash and collar too.

Hi Puppies!

Just came in because I saw someone say they were ordering from Amazon.com

DK supports rescues when we use the Doodle Kisses Amazon Link

So if you order from Amazon..... here is the all important link to support DK and rescues.  Thanks and happy shopping

I loved having the crate and cover. I wish I bought a snuggle puppy. Sounds very comforting from what others have said.
I got a brush/comb as well as a dog food storage container. In addition to the items you already have. I thought it was important to get our puppy used to being brushed regularly(everyday). And I wouldn't worry about the polar vortex. Our 11 week old girl thinks this weather is splendid. :)
The best thing I bought was a chain link leash. Puppies like to chew and it's indestructible.
Josie LOVED that Hide A Squirrel toy. Now she destroys anything stuffed, so I've put it aside for now. I would also get an easy-walk-harness, an antler chew toy, some bully sticks and some Kong toys. Josie still loves the little squeaky toys. Maybe you want to consider larger ones since I'm guessing your puppy will be on the bigger side. Any toys that they can make noise with - There are things that you can stuff an empty water bottle in. Actually, for a while - just an empty water bottle itself can be entertaining for quite some time! Again, Josie now breaks through those with her teeth in no time. But good for younger puppies. Good luck!
Bitter apple spray to help deter him from things you spray it on, and natures miracle for the inevitable accidents

Oh my doodle YES!

I'd add Nature's Miracle for cleaning up accidents to the list.

And puppy shampoo, ear wipes and definitely Bitter Apple spray.

The hide a squirrel is great! We also bought a snuggle puppy. Rubbed it over the siblings. It has a heartbeat and you can put a heating pack inside.
I also bought a yard of soft cuddly fabric at JoAnn's as a blankie, which was also rubbed over the siblings. To chew bully sticks, the small no odor ones.
Potty bells were a lifesaver for me, after a while he caught on and I would know every time he needed to go out, could hear him all over the house. No scratching and ruining the door! Until he chewed the bells off :( Which leaves to my next tip..... Insurance! Especially the first year or two when they are into everything! My insurance (pet plan) has paid for itself 10 times over! Good luck and have fun!

YES, PET INSURANCE IS A MUST!
