I plan on coming this Sunday, will be a long drive but Rylee loved Pismo Beach so much.  Will have to determine her ability to be off-leash when we get there... still just a pup.

Count us in.  Thanks for organizing the first doodle romp at the world's best dog playground. Looking forward to seeing lots of doodles.

Nev and I would like to meet on Sunday for a doodle romp.  We are pretty flexible on time and place.  We usually go to Crissy field so would be interested in visiting a new park.

Jill, Izzy gets her "get out of jail" card this Tues. We start puppy K classes Thurs eve at the SPCA. Would love to meet on Sat the 9th in San Mateo if it's not raining.

I would like to meet with you all sometime in te future. Bodie's last set of shots are on 1/7 and so I'll probably take him to the dog park in SSF or San Mateo on 1/9--if it's not raining. But we will try to l go to Ft Funston the following weekend. In-laws will be in town and it's a nice place to take a walk and get them out of the house.

Happy Holidays to all the doodles, their family and friends. Woof, woof, woof.

Off-leash dog privileges are at risk again!  Please read article in SF Chron and be as active as you can. Letters to Editor are useful.  Think about joining the SFDogs group on Yahoo, which is quite active in following this issue!

Subject: [sfdog] And here we go...

"Dog owners wary as federal parks ponder leash rule"

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2010/12/21/MN731GR...

If writing is your thing, please weigh in in the comments section.  Some
points:

We currently have access to less than 1% of the GGNRA for an activity
favored by an estimated 25-30% of the population.

This is an *urban* recreation area; the legitimate recreational needs of an
urban populace can and must be balanced with resource protection.

Extremists seek to remove recreation from the equation, a fact made clearly
evident by a push within Congress in the last years to remove the word
"Recreation" from the very title of the park, to change it from the Golden
Gate National Area to Golden Gate National Parks.

Fimrite mentions "lawsuits and protests" over efforts to "restrain man's
best friend."  The lawsuit was over a land closure that took place without
Notice and Comment, in violation of federal law when proposed land changes
are controversial.  The land closure, added to several other land closures
over the last two decades, bars access to everyone, not just dog owners.

If anyone else can think of other points that are important to make, please
add them.

Vicki
