As mentioned in the Food Group - Evening Primrose Oil is a seizure trigger.  I have not had a chance to do any research on it.  These are the links to the Food Group discussions.

Keep in mind that these effects are seen in humans; we don't know about dogs. I probably wouldn't risk it with my own dog, though.
Quinn’s seizures appear (knock wood) to be controlled with medication. We have not seen a seizure since we found his current dosage a few months ago. Before that, he was having a seizure roughly once a month.

When he was having seizures, they often seemed triggered by stress. He gets very anxious in the car, and several of his seizures occurred within 24 hours after an extremely long car trip. We now break trips up whenever we’re going to be in the car for longer than 4 hours.

He also had two seizures triggered by the steroid Temaril. And while not it was not a seizure trigger, the medication we recently tried for a yeast infection in his feet - Fluconazole - threw off his Phenobarbital levels terribly, to the point where he had trouble walking and actually fell down several stairs. These two issues have made me really gun shy about trying any new medications.

Here's a link to the Epi Angels site to some other possible triggers. I avoid all of the foods and spices listed, though clearly I didn't need to be told not to give Quinn caffeine. :)

I started Jasper on one 1000mg EPO capsule a day for his itchy skin. He has been taking it for over a month now and had NO SEIZURE since!!! He is NOT on medication (Pheno etc.) so maybe that makes a difference too?
That's what I understood from the literature, too.
Jack has had "focal seizures" for several years now, which are like jaw spasms. I haven't noticed any difference in the frequency or severity since he's been on the EPO.
Ok, I clearly misunderstood this thread, sorry - I am DK challenged this week! Sigh.
Your post was fine. Great info, Thanks for posting
Don't worry Amanda. This is what this website is for. Clear up misunderstandings and learn as much as we can from each other.
I think most of us know more about k9 Epilepsy then most Vets!
Oh gosh, Thank goodness I saw this! I just purchased some today to try to help Sadie with her allergy trouble w pollen. But, it certainly wouldn't be worth compromising her seizure threshold. Thanks for posting!! Whew!!
It's good for women, too. Maybe you can use it yourself if you can't return it.
I heard that while at this great Natural Food store I was in today! The woman helping me said, "You look forty-something....so, if it doesn't help your dog's allergies-maybe it will help you when you start having hot flashes". I figured both Sadie and I would give it a whirl. Thanks Karen~
