Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Okay, so I gave Webster (f2 chocolate goldendoodle) a haircut yesterday.  I love the look of the long haired doodles but I just don't spend time bathing, brushing, trimming, etc, to keep his coat long.  We have 6 acres and Webster loves to run the woods.  If his hair is long he comes back with all sorts of leaves, branches and thorns in his coat.  I also prefer the straight leg cut but the amount of dirt that my dogs bring into the house is just too much.  I always intend to use a guide on the clippers but either I can't find it (which was the case yesterday) or I can't get it through his coat and I give up.  Anyway, I had convinced myself that Webster looked "distinguished" in his new cut but then my hubby came home and started laughing - said he looked "goofy".

So, you all are fellow short-hair-ers, how bad does he look?  I don't have the guts to post this on the main site - lol!

I think he looks great!  Good job!

Webster looks great!  You did a really nice job and, ahhh, life will be easier for you both.

Hugs for Webster!

I call that a "tailored" look!
Webster looks great!!!  I have taken my Gracie Doodle down that short many times.  I usually leave the legs a little fuller but believe me, if I had the land you have, she would look just like Webster.  I had to do it when she boarded at a dog ranch in the mountains.  She got fox tails between her toes and had to have two surgeries.  The short hair is great for find all the things they pick up.  You did a great job with him.  Besides, within two weeks you will look at him and see that he is getting shaggy again.  I bet he is one happy Doodle with all that hair gone.  I have Gracie at 2" right now (her longest ever) and she is not happy.  She is always hot!  So who is the Dood next to Webster?  They have the exact same haircut!!!  I love the different colors Webster has.  What color was the top of his head before you cut it?  I always find colors show up after a grooming that you didn't know they had.  Give him a big hug and tell him he is a very handsome Dood.  And don't let your DH laugh at him.  Doodles are very sensitive and they get hurt feelings very easily! ha ha

That is Webster's "little sister", Charlotte.  Charlotte is our 6 month old goldendoodle and Webster's bestest friend and biggest admirer.  Charlottes hair is silkier and finer so I might be able to let her hair grow longer.  Webster's hair just gets "poofier" when it gets long with the looser curls sticking out so he looks a mess.  My husband calls him "Sasquatch" (of course, he calls Charlotte "Miss Dingleberry").

The top of his head is that silver/chocolate color regardless of the length.  He used to be darker once he had a haircut but now his chocolate has faded and I suppose he may be a cafe-au-lait?

He looks great!  You did an awesome job on all of him, but especially his head, which I suspect is the hardest part.  Enjoy these next twig and dirt-reduced weeks.
He looks so handsome! What beautiful coloring!
