I did locate a pet sitter through care.com for the evenings we're out but I'll be in town for four days and looking for dog friendly events and/or places to go with our puppy so suggestions welcome.

When are you going to be here? I live in Thousand Oaks. Nimbus would be happy to have a friend over. There is a nice dog park in Thousand Oaks, too. And there are beaches.

We're going to be arriving on Friday and attending a Dodger game with my son and his gf. I wanted to go to the Home Decor Store in Thousand Oaks but I understand its a 45 min. drive "in no traffic".  Is there such a time when there's no traffic???

Seriously, such a nice offer, Helga! I'm uncertain, though, if time would permit us to travel much beyond where we'll be stating; we're only in town for a few days and will be visiting our son most of the time. I'm hoping the area is dog-friendly but if memory serves it is!

Is that the name of the store? Home Decor Store? Never heard of it. I'd be happy to watch Coby while you shop there. If you friend request me, I'll send you my address.

In Westlake on the Promenade, you can eat outside in several restaurants and bring your dog. At the Oaks Mall there is also Lazy Dog Cafe, where you can sit outside with your dog. They bring water bowls, and you can even order food for your dog. There is also a nice dog park in Thousand Oaks. We go there almost every day. It's off Avenida De Las Flores

Cool! I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it there but sounds like fun. Home Decor was a huge store here - lots of artificial plants/flowers and home decorating items at good prices and liberal return policy, not that it would help me from this distance. And we'll have limited room in the car. I'm having a hard time locating you for some reason. Can you send me a request? Would love to touch base with you!

Susan - are you staying in Malibu? Thousand Oaks is close to Malibu. Leo Carillo State Park is a beach in Malibu that allows dogs - tho not off leash. Oxnard isn't too far north and Hollywood Beach there is very sparse (people-wise) and you probably aren't supposed to have your dogs off leash, but everyone does. That's my favorite place to go. Friendly dogs are probably welcome at most outdoor cafes/coffee places.

Yes, we are staying *someplace* in Malibu. I rented a cottage through vbro.com. I hadn't realized Thousand Oaks is nearby - I had called the store Home Decor as we used to have one here in S'dale and I liked going but they said it was about a 45 min drive ??  If we have time I'd love to take Coby to a dog friendly beach. If memory serves, there seems to be a good selection of outdoor cafes in and around Malibu so hopefully the Cobester will be welcome at some places nearby!
