Not quite out here yet, but close enough to the end of the year that I'm not expecting to get any calls to sub (but you never know- I got called for the 2nd day of school this year...). Can't wait for my kids to be done though so I can stop setting my alarm and making lunches! Woohoo!
Schools Out!! (At least in most places).
No more pencils, no more books,
No more teacher's dirty looks.
We are still in the final countdown here in VA. I'm holding out for June 15th. Have a great Summer everyone!
My last day is tomorrow !! I have this slight silly grin on my face !!!!! and this year is wasn't the kids , it was co-workers that were driving me crazy !
Hey! The end of another school year is upon us! What are plans for the summer?
Yes, I have my favorite schools also and the teachers there know that I prefer booking in advance and don't answer morning calls. We have an automated sub system and I have told them don't call between 6:00 and 8:00 in the morning. I also usually do art projects and like to have the time to prep for the classes that I teach. Everybody is pretty understanding.
I totally get it, Lynda. It was a little embarrassing to tell them that I was taking time off because we were bringing a puppy home. :) But, that's one of the benefits of being a sub, I get to come and go as I please! I only sub at my daughter's school so I don't usually get a call more than once or twice a week so hopefully Rooney won't have too many long days at home. It's crazy how much his comfort has become so much more important to me than a paycheck! LOL!
Isn't it funny how we plan our schedules around our pups. If I am asked to sub on a day my husband is working at the gallery, I tell them "not available". I wouldn't say that I had to stay home with my dogs. Then on the 30th of the month, I have an acupunchure appointment at 3:00, Harpo's agility lesson at 4:30 and his obedience class at 6:30. They are in different towns, so I hope I can get them all in and that it is not too hot that day so he can stay in the car while I have my acupuncture. Oh the problems we face with our doodles!
Hi All- I had my first full day back at substitute teaching yesterday since Rooney arrived. It was 7/8 science and I had to quickly brush up on my basic genetics. LOL! I took a little "Puppy Maternity" when he came home and have only done a few half days since his arrival. I felt like a new mom worrying about him yesterday, knowing he isn't used to having me gone all day. Luckily, my husband just opted to work from him so he still had attention and companionship during the day. But he was definitely more energetic when I got home!
Welcome aboard to our "new" teacher, Joni! It's that time of year here in VA where we go into panic mode in hopes our students are going to be prepared for the SOLs. With so much emphasis being put on testing data as part of teacher performance evaluations, most teachers in my building are quite overwhelmed right now. We all got into this business because of our passion for education and children. Thanks for joining us with that vision Joni and may you help us carry the torch no matter what gov't obsticles get thrown in our paths. Happy Spring everyone. Let the count down begin to summer vacation! Lotsa hugs from Cheryl and Bogey.
