Welcome new members of Educators with Doodles. Even though school is starting again soon, we can still have lots of fun and interaction here. Best wishes to all of you who are starting with a new grade level this year. It's exciting but exhausting also to get everything ready to go. Doodle licks to all of you.

Welcome Georgia and Sammie's Mom and Joanne and Armani. Part time or full time, those of us in education have a unique outlook on many things. My husband and both teach at the elementary level - he is currently with 2nd graders and I pull kids out for sp. ed. services.

Hi, I am new to the group. I am a 2nd grade teacher. Don't want to think about it but vacation is almost over :( I have a 9 year old Bichon who is a therapy dog, and a 6 month old Goldendoodle that will be training for the same program. Looking forward to chatting and getting more information from all of you.

No, Gordie was actually chasing Ned, the doodle, at the campground dog park. We thought it was sooooo neat that this campground has a dog park, a dog bath with warm water as well as small fenced areas that you can use for a dog potty spots all around the park. They even have a covered fenced area for cats! Now, I am sad that I ever wanted Gordie to chase Ned to get some exercise. They were having fun though. Gordie didn't fall, he just suddenly began running on three legs and I thought he got a sticker in his foot or maybe pulled a muscle. It is so damaged that the vet could diagnose it by feel. The surgeon will actually take the x-rays on Monday morning and do the surgery on Monday afternoon. I think I am going to start a discussion to see if others have experience with the types of surgery they do for this and any recovery hints.

Hmmmm. Jumping out of the RV?

I spoke too soon about my summer not being over til its over. Well, IT IS OVER and not due to school. Gordie, our Springer, just tore his ACL and must have surgery with 6 weeks of recouperation in a confined space and on leash. This sounds just like our RV, except for getting in and out, and, if he developed any complications.... we would be far away. I am glad that we are able to be home with him for at least the first 2 1/2 weeks. Now the challenge is to keep Ned and him calm. You can guess how he injured it.

I didn't go farther north than Pismo this year. We have gone from Chula Vista (southern San Diego) to Pismo Beach. We were going to go to Monterrey but decided to just stay longer at the parks and save gas.

Nancy, did you get near the bay area, we could have met up...

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo! My summer is not over yet. I refuse to think about school until August 20th (my first day back). However, I do know I am on the last leg of my vacation. I am savoring each and every day. We have only been home about 5 days total since June 19th. We have been in our RV staying at our favorite haunts along the California coast. Sometimes our kids meet up with us for a few days (think wall to wall dogs) and sometimes we are by ourselves (think almost wall to wall dogs). What a life!

Almost August, and as I remember, teachers are returning from summer adventures and starting to think about getting classrooms (and heads) ready for the return to school in a few weeks. Can't say that I miss that, but I am getting ready to return to fun classes at the local junior college. So, what did everyone do this summer to relax and recuperate, and any new plans for the fall?
