Champion Foods will be selling at Petco...thoughts

Champion posted what is happening on their FB page this morning. The comments were pretty angry accusing Champion of "selling out". Do you think this will change the quality. I feed my dogs the Fit and Trim. Thoughts?....

Hi Marcy,
You are correct that at this point, there has been absolutely no change of which we are aware in quality, sourcing, ingredients, or anything else. And we are sincerely hoping there won't be. My fear is that the rumors of the company being sold in the near future may be true, and that the decision to sell through a big box store like Petco is the first step toward that. So yes, it does make total sense to think about and research viable alternatives but not make any changes at this point. IF worst comes to eorst and the company does end up being sold, experience with similar situations (most notably Natura's sale years back) has shown us that there is typically a 6-12 month period after the sale in which the food remains the same. So you have lots of time. It's perfectly safe to stick with the Orijen for now.

I feed my dog Whole Earth Farms it is made by Merricks.  But she is a little girl.

We took Merrick off our recommended brands list after they were sold to Nestle-Purina and subsequently had some serious recalls, most recently in May 2018 because of elevated thyroid hormone levels in several of their products.

Yeah, the dog food advisor doesn't take sourcing of ingredients or the ownership of the company into consideration. We do a little more research, lol.
