I'm considering switching over from dry kibble to raw food for my 1 yr old goldendoodle. Are there any commercial brands that anybody could reccomend? I'm trying to find a raw food option that is not too messy. One of the local stores carries Primal Pet Food, which comes in patties or nuggets, and they appear to be balanced with at leat 60% meat or meat organs and produce for the remainder. The other option that the store owner told me about was dehydrated raw food by The Honest Kitchen -- comes in a granular format and you just add warm water.
Anybody have any experience with these products or recommend other raw food products? thx!
Nature's Variety makes a line of raw frozen food (patties, etc) that is carried at Pet Supplies Plus and I'm sure any other stores that carry the brand.
I just feed raw meat, it's really not messy, I taught them to eat on a towel so when they are done, just pick up the towel and throw in the laundry. When the weather is nice, they just eat outside. Would that work for you?
Ladies, we also have a separate discussion area here in The Food Group for raw feeding... I would like to keep from having two separate discussions here on the same topic. If this is going to go over into a general discussion of raw feeding, rather than specifically about commercial raw products, perhaps we can move it over there. Thanks. http://doodlekisses.com/group/thefoodgroup/forum/topics/feeding-raw
I feed my two doodles Verve from the Honest Kitchen and usually supplement it with some type of commercial raw food. I have used Nature's Variety, Freshpet, and mostly use CountyPet. I tend to go with the Country Pet most of the time because of their direct ship policy and the fact that my dogs like it a lot.
Our local natural dog food store just gave me a bag of Stella and Chewy's frozen raw chicken patties. I thawed out two and Sage had it for breakfast this morning. She really liked the taste but time will tell. Stella and Chewy seems like a good way to feed raw without fuss and muss. The price wasn't too bad either. The food comes in chicken, beef or lamb and they come in a freeze dried version too.
I have some of the Wysong foods on order that are raw and dried- Uncanny and Ultimate and Archetype. I like their philosophy and want to have a roster of foods that we rotate through for Sage - who is unfortunately a picky eater.
Anyone out there have more experience with these two foods?
We use Natures Variety frozen raw beef and chicken medallions for our Maltese. They only eat two per day for each dog, so it is economically viable to feed them that. It is a bit expensive to feed Holly Nature's Variety as her only foord but, we do give her two medallions each day with her kibble - one each at her morning and evening feedings.
