So as I've written in a previous post, I'm now flipflopping on what brand to switch Charlie over to. He's going to be 1 year old on April 5th and I think he will do better on a different food. As much as I wish orijen worked out for him, his stools are simply too loose and his gas is extremely smelly... lol.

I'm curious about what your experiences have been switching from Orijen puppy to Fromm or Orijen puppy to Acana? I know Acana is highly recommended because it is made in Canada and made from a highly reputable company. I do really like the fact that it's a Canadian made food.

However, what I like about Fromm is the variety of flavours! and I have tried it before with Charlie and he loved it and I know that a lot of dogs do well on it, from reading different posts here.

I feel like I'm being pulled in two different directions! lol. I know that I can always switch to Acana from Fromm and vice versa if either one isn't working out but a big part of me does want to try Fromm.

What were your experiences like?

Perhaps you are over thinking this?  I say that with a smile.  :)

Choose a small bag of one and see how it goes.  If you don't see an improvement, look carefully at the ingredients and compare them to Orijen and any other food you try.  It took me a long time to figure out my Charlie can't eat white potatoes and an even longer time to eliminate poultry.  So if your dog does not improve with the new food, you'll want to avoid ingredients that the previous foods have in common when making another selection.

Go for it!

You are 100% right! I am over thinking it and now I am stressing myself out... as I do with everything else! lol. I'm treating this like he's going to be stuck with this food forever but I know I can switch to something else if it doesn't work.

Thank you!! :)
Orijen and Acana are made by the same company :) Orijen is all grain free while the Acana line offered both grain free and healthy grain options.
Personally I use Acana and love it! No gas other than happy burps. Poops are near perfect. We are still with the puppy/junior line but will soon be switiching over to the "big boy" line :) Acana does have a decent selection of flavours and I know they are adding more! The thing I like best is once I make the switch and find our favorite flavour I can buy a normal size bag of it. However they sell really small 2lb ish bags as well so I can grab those and switch out flavours here and there without having to store several big bags. Brilliant move on their part!
Both Fromm and Acana are wonderful foods. You can't go wrong. And you can always switch!
We use Fromm and the dogs love it. With all of the critters we have, I typically go through 3 - 30lb bags a month, so typically order 3 different favors ( all in the same line). The dogs all love most of the flavors and have no problem at all switching from one to the other.

Our breeder fed Fromm and highly recommended it. Fromm is pretty hard to find here, so I started them on Wellness and then Candidae for the first few years, but always felt I wanted to put them back on Fromm. When I finally gave in to ordering online through Chewy, Fromm became easy to get and as you say, has many flavors. So they have been on Fromm for the last two years or so.  They have always done well on all the foods I've mentioned, but it just became a presonal choice and strong belief that my breeder knows more than I do about doodles and the foods they should eat.  It helps that she is an excellent breeder and gives an excellent food. Unfortunatly that isn't always the case. So doing your homework, accounting for availability in your area and cost will help you make your choice.
