I and Love and You brand

Hi there...

We stopped in at a Petco Unleashed store in Portland and were given some samples of the I and Love and You brand kibble, along with the jerky treats.  Have never heard of this brand before - ingredients look ok, but since I'm not the food guru, I thought I'd let Karen and JD give their take on this food line.

The products look good. It was really hard for me to read the nutritional info, but from what I can make out, it looks like a good quality line, and they claim that everything is sourced in the USA. The treat line looks really good, and the jerky too. 

It will be interesting to see pricing for this stuff.

not everything, I took a look and the beef treats come from 'free range cattle from Brazil'.

It seems a lot of the better beef pizzles and parts chews come from South America. I'm still not sure about it. It's definitely better than the stuff that comes from China, though.

We have had those that come from South America, and so far so good....no weird side effects.

Taking a quick look on the Petco website...the dry kibble starts at about $17 for 5#'s and goes up from there. Raw dehydrated starts about $17 for 1.5#'s which apparently makes 10#'s once rehydrated. Canned is around $2/can. So, quasi average....maybe a little on the higher side.

$17 for 5 lbs is pretty comparable to Acana.

If it really is $32 for 13lbs, then it's cheaper than the wellness core we give Darwin. I wonder if he'd enjoy this food. We for sure want to try the treats.

If you have a Petco close, I'd give it a try, maybe they would have samples - if not, I'm sure that if Darwin doesn't like it, you could take it back (but I'd ask first).  :-)  So far, Fazzy loves the sample.

Hmm, this stuff looks very interesting.  I wonder if it's available around here.  The website says: "“I and love and you” is currently available in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Kansas", yet you found yours in Portland, right?  In addition to Petco it lists Pet Supplies Plus and Whole Foods as suppliers but I've never seen it at either of those places here.  I don't go to Petco often, but I may have to check it out for the treats.
