Hi all,

I'm posting this to food as I think this is the group who may have some advice. Taking Joey to the vet asap has been on my mind and before I take her this morning, I want to know if I'm over reacting or if there is a problem. Also, Joey goes to the vet A LOT - we take her for everything, blood in stool, runny stool, panting. We're just overcautious and it's becoming expensive and we come across as crazy dog parents.

So here goes. Joey's been fine. Last night about 2 hours after dinner, she threw it all up. No big deal, we're like weird. A little less than 2 hours after that she throws up yellow bile. Ok, still weird, but whatever maybe she's not feeling well. 2 hours later, she throws up again, but this time more salivy, clear but still yellow. Less than an hour she throws up yellow foam. In the middle of the night she hacks and heaves some more yellow liquid stuff.

She drank water between throw up 1 and 2 and 3 but not after. I've been trying to give her water. I read other posts where people say midnight snack. She won't take to her kibble nor the rice I've put out.

Wondering if stuff like this is normal and she'll get through it or do I need medical intervention (vet). I don't know what the vet would do except take temp and order a blood sample and stool sample.

Thoughts? If I'm going to the vet, I need to go now so I can make it to work :/

Is there any chance she's eaten something, like a sock, that could be causing a blockage?  If so, she would need to go in and get checked out.

I don't think it's a sock. Please don't judge me for what I'm about to say....

I normally stuff Joey's kong with chicken breast for my salad because I don't eat it all. This chicken normally comes from a super fancy, famous NYC cafe and I know is organic, free-range, etc.

Well, yesterday morning when I left her in her crate, I used chicken from a California Pizza Kitchen salad, which I don't normally eat myself! I'm wondering if that chicken was bad, or low quality or maybe it had too much sodium even though I rinsed to be certain, etc... :/ So that's why if it is the chicken, then maybe this will pass?

If it were me, I would take her to the Vet.  We did have one episode of pancreatitis with Guinness that presented similar to this...although he was also very lethargic...and I was so glad that I took him in.  Good luck and let us know what you find out.

At the least the vet will probably give her metranidazole to calm her stomach and stop the vomiting.

I'd get her to the vet asap. That much vomiting plus refusing food are things that need to be checked out.

Bring her to the vet. They should get to the bottom of things.
Also, get pet insurance.

Id say go to the vet, thats a lot of throwing up and she may be dehydrated. Also get insurance if you go to the vet alot. heck even if you dont, get insurance. It can be as little as $15 month up to about $40, depending on what plan you get

I could not agree more. Get insurance, and get it now.

Jack's vet expenses since Nov. 13th have been almost $6000 now. I don't have insurance. The endoscopy alone cost almost $3000. Fortunately, I did not have to make health decisions based on finances, but I know this would have been an insurmountable burden for many younger people. You never want to have to deny your dog treatment because you can't pay for it.

Vomiting can cause dehydration. One thing the vet might do is give sub-cu fluids and/or prescribe anti-nauseants. That would make Joey feel better.

Better to be safe...take her to the vet to be checked.

Vet, for sure.

Go to the vet, the can get him meds too stop the vomiting, you don't want his stomach to flip.
