I finally filled a kong for Bexter yesterday.  I was so excited.  I put some plain Greek yogurt and a few bits of banana in the middle & froze it in the freezer.  He LOVED it!  All of you are sooo right - it kept him occupied for a long time!  The cold probably felt soothing to his gums, too.  I was all excited to do it again & was thinking I may do this for each morning when I leave for work (I'm a teacher & school is starting soon) to give Bexter a snack & something to do.

However, when I watched him poop this morning's poop & walked out to pick it up, it was RUNNY.  It was like the consistency of, well...yogurt.  (BTW - His next poop after lunchtime was back to normal)

Is this normal?  Or is it because he's not used to it?  Or is it the banana (but I only put a couple of slices worth all chopped up)?  Or is it because the yogurt was Greek?  Has anybody used Greek yogurt?  It is higher in protein, so I thought that would be good.  It's the kind I always eat myself actually.

If this is unusual & he's had a weird reaction to it, I may just try cheese or peanut butter or something else.  Thanks!

It may have been the fat, if the yogurt was the full-fat Greek kind. It may also just be that he's sensitive to dairy products; many dogs are.
Karen, I checked the fat.  It is 0%.  So...maybe he is sensitive to dairy.  I'll try something else in the kong for the next try.  BUMMER!   I was so excited to have found something that he loved that was so easy to do!  Although, if he reacted that way to yogurt, maybe cheese will be the same story?
Hard to say. You might try the yogurt again and see if he has the same reaction.
we use baby food or natural no sugar added applesauce as kong stuffing.  We make it the night before (we hide a few chunks of doggie biscuits in there too) and pop it in the freezer and just give it to Cubbie when we leave for work in the morning.  He actually seems excited to see us leave for work because he knows that his kongcicle is coming.  Now that we have Ollie we will have to stock up on a few more kongs before my DH goes back to work in the fall.
I have to say when I got to the point of the consistency being yogurt.. LOL/// to funny.  maybe yogart and cheese..that way one will bind ..unless he is dairy  intolerant..yikes..
Mine get loose stools with yogurt only too. I use plain low fat. I mix it with low fat peanut butter, pumpkin and a few pieces of kibble to make it crunchy. Then I put a small biscuit in it sticking out (kind of like a cherry on top:)) and freeze it. I've also used canned dog food.
Thanks for the great suggestions, everybody!  I will be trying some of these!
