Molly is a BAK PAK dog!

We have been so busy and absent from Doodle Kisses, but I wanted to share that Molly is now a Bak Pak (reading therapy) dog at the elementary school library.  We worked so much this summer and she does so well (despite still having a few puppy wiggles!).  It is very fulfilling to watch the child read to her and have her "listen" =)

Thank you, all! Glenda, you have to complete 3 training classes with the Bak Pak coordinator AFTER passing your Canine Good Citizen. It's such a great program. I volunteered in the school library prior to this and now Bak Pak is my volunteer time. The kids get a bookmark with Molly's picture on it to help encourage reading between sessions :)

Where can I get info about CGC? Didn't realize you need to pass that before you pass the Therapy dog test.

Hi Joann! CGC classes are taught all over the place, pet co and pet smart teach them too. Usually you sign up for the class after taking puppy 1 and 2 or adult 1 and 2 and at the end of the CGC class they will test you and your puppy. The AKC will also issue a CGC title if a dog passes their Therapy Dog exam, you just need to submit the test or member card from the Therapy dog organization with a list of therapy visits for the different AKC Therapy Dog Titles and they will issue a certificate. For some organizations you do not have to have the CGC prior to testing, which is what we did. Feel free to message me if you have any questions :)
