I make a living writing jingle lyrics for advertising commercials. (My husband is my business partner. He produces the music.) I started writing two business books several years ago because we get a lot of calls/emails from musicians who want to know our secret to getting into this business. One is a step by step manual to answer all the questions that musicians ask us about how to get into the business, how to find clients, how to write the lyrics, etc. The other is a 3 in 1 reference book with Real Words, Phrases, and an Abbreviated Rhyming Dictionary for lyricists and copy writers. Ironically, shortly after I finished the first draft we became sooooo busy producing jingles I didn't have time to finish editing the book(s) on how to do it. I am hoping (hoping, hoping) to get it completed this year because it makes me feel like I have a 50 pound monkey on my back. I have so many other things I want to write, like children's books or magazine articles, but won't give myself permission to do them until these two are done. My problem is that my work is demanding, I watch my grandchildren after school, and I spend my "down time" doing photography and painting - and socializing with my friends on Doodle Kisses, of course. Excuses, excuses, I know. I've got to just DO it! :)
I don't do any kind of formal writing. But I do blog, and I enjoy writing papers for my classes and things. English has always been my favorite subject and I read like nobody's business. I really do enjoy writing about anything, but mainly I just chronicle my life adventures. My goal is pretty simple, to become a better writer. I feel a little overwhelmed because there is just so many areas in which I can improve!
I know what you mean about feeling overwhelmed. I feel the same way.

Your blog is wonderful! Is there a way to "subscribe" to it thru DK, so that I get a notification/link when you post something new? If not, I might be able to create a custom feed via Google Reader.
Yes. You can go to Camilla's blog, and at the bottom of the list of all the posts, there is a "Follow" you can click so you will be notified of any new blog entries she makes.
Aha! Thanks, Karen! I was looking for it in the sidebar. (Duhhhh.) I just noticed that YOU have a blog, too! I LAUGHED AND LAUGHED when I read your post about the person in the drive thru window. How funny!
I mostly like to write short stories. I have written a few short stories for little kids. My goal right now is to get inspired for a short story and enter the writer's digest short story competition and possibly win a prize....haha:) Also to become a better writer. If anyone wants to see any of my stories I will try to see if I can send you some. Don't feel pressured though, if you don't want to see them, it's fine with me too.:)
Hi Taylor,
I would love to read some of your work. :) You can go to my DK page and click "send a message" and copy/paste it there, or send it to my regular email address: linda@bellmusicproductions.com as an attachment.
