I have to admit Carol, most of my action shots are in "sport" mode....  There is just not enough time for me to catch what I want to catch as they are running and playing AND fiddle around with settings.  Not yet anyway :)

Here are the settings though, f/5.3 ISO 400 Focal Length 165mm and Exp time 1/1000.  I find it helps to look at the pics you really like to learn what the camera does and maybe you can recreate.
