- About Me:
- I am a stay at home Doodle mom to my nearly 10 year old Holly. I am also one of the moderators for the Goldendoodle Love site on Facebook created by Natalie Hamilton. Holly's my first Dog, and my best buddy. She is my child since I dont have human ones. I was referred to this group because I have difficulties with her and food. It's extremely frustrating. I want the best for her and want her with me for as many years possible.
- What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
- Holly is an F1b. Goldendoodle mom who died at age 7 of cancer and Standard Poodle father. We used to have a cat named Lucky. Sadly, we lost him 1 1/2 years ago suddenly from bladder rupture.
- Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
- Always wanted a Golden Retriever my whole life. Heard the Doodles were hypoallergenic so learned about them for two years of research and decided it was the breed for me. My brother in law is a vet, he had a client who's Goldendoodle was having a litter and my husband decided for Christmas we would pick one out. Best gift ever!
- What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
- Walk, car rides and visiting every where she's allowed. Playing ball, dog park, family gatherings, weekend hikes, snuggling, hanging on the patio near our fireplace. We love to include Holly in as many parts of our lives as possible.
- Who grooms your doodle(s)?
- Chris at Doggie Stylz. She is the owner. I found her when Holly was 4 months old. She is the only person who has groomed Holly in nearly ten years. She is the best and loves Holly like her own. Holly walks in and jumps right up on the table like she's the only dog in the place! So funny!

Holly has been doing great on Acana Duck and Pear the last 6 or more months since I started adding a small amt of hydrolized canned food by hills during some meals. Not all. She's had normal bowel movements and no vomiting for months now. Great news! I'd hate to change her food but have been really worried about the Acana Champion food problems re: taurine and their legal issues. Not sure what they are all about but still worried. Holly just turned 10 and of course I want her around and healthy for years to come. Thinking of Fromm but not sure. Please give me your honest opinion about Acana and if I really need to be worried. When I spoke to the company months ago I was pretty satisfied but I'm curious what you think.

You can really trust Karen and Jack to steer you in the right direction for Holly. She has helped so many of us get on the right track, or simply to understand nutritional things. She actually researches the food down to the sourcing and understands the nutrients and interactions etc. These are things I am not versed on and I trust the advice Karen gives me implicitly. Good luck finding just the right combo nutritionally for Holly.

Welcome to doodlekisses, Dawn. Karen and Jack - who responded to your discussion about foods, really is an expert on doggy gastrointestinal issues. What I prefer about doodlekisses to facebook pages is that you can post a discussion and follow it, you can research past discussions about a topic also.
