Originally from England. My husband and I have been married for 45 years. We have 5 children, one of whom we adopted at age 18 months to be a play mate for our first grandchild of the same age and to keep us involved with the same kids sporting activities which are a large part of our lives. We now have 17 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. All children live close and we are very family orientated, even down to what kind of dog Grandma and Grandpa should have.
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
In the past have had a female German Shepherd that we bred twice, a Great Dane, Great Pyrenees that lived until he was 10, and two male English Mastiffs, one who lived until 6 when he started having grand mal seizures that got so severe we had to say goodbye, and now our second EM who has just been diagnosed with cancer of his elbow and he's only 2 years old, so we are devastated. I happened to show some of our 17 grandchildren what a goldendoodle looked like and of course they fell in love. So I am preparing us for the eventual loss of our Bennett.
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
I have always had giant breeds but as my husband and I are now in our 60s I feel a comparatively large but less massive dog would be in order. I happened upon a pair of goldendoodles out with their owners and felt it was a beautiful combination. I always wanted a standard poodle at some time in my life but family members shied away from them, and Golden Retrievers were very popular when I was growing up in England.
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
Since we don't have a doodle yet I can only refer to what we have always done with our pets! We treat them as one of the family! Where we go they would go within reason. We live close to a walking trail and so that would be part of our daily routine. Other than that, just regular day to day living with a lot of company......grandchildren! Our house is definitely the center of our family.
Who grooms your doodle(s)?
I would mostly or a privately owned pet store that grooms my daughters English Bulldog.

Sounds like a wonderful family, kids, grandkids and furry pets. I am soon to be 69 (when did that happen) and we have a nine month old labradoodle. She is the sweetest, loving, goofy, beautiful pet. We are so crazy about her. I know you will enjoy having your doodle. We originally wanted a pet that took after the lab but she has the prettiest wavy hair. Of course I am not sure it is the final coat but that is part of the fun for a doodle. She will be a great size for you and the grandkids. They are smart and have to be occupied or they chew up bills, electrical cords, cans - anything that looks like fun. So good luck and I so look forward to seeing your pet. Sorry about Bennet. We had to say goodbye to four dogs this last year. Two were 18 years old, a beautiful boxer 11 and our granddog Foxy was hit by a car at age seven. It is always hard.
