Ruby is so cute too. She and Oscar look alike!

Thank you for the compliments about my guys.  We do think Ned's size is just perfect.  He is big enough to be a 'real' dog (for those of us used to larger dogs), but small enough for us to easily pick up as we, and he, age.  Our favorite place to stay is the Central Coast area, but we usually drift northward to Santa Cruz each summer. It must have been hard to leave the beautiful coast, but I have heard that Boulder is gorgeous also.  PS Ruby is what I would have named my first choice puppy but Ned was so charming he become our selection.

I see that you've taught in Santa Cruz, Shoney. My son hopes to transfer there from community college in Moorpark CA.
And my husband is in the Sierras a lot. We used to do quite a bit of backpacking as a family, but I don't want to carry everything anymore.

Thank you! She's growing SO fast, we can't keep up with her pictures! We named her Sassy because she actually "talked back" after being scolded for getting too rough with the Chihuahuas!

Thank you so much! We are struggling with her loss but seeing all these amazing doodles brings me so much happiness and somehow makes me feel closer to my girl.  Dudley is giving me lots of love to help me through.

"Sheep-shearing" day in the valley

Sometimes all that fleecy fuzz is too much and out come the scissors. Yes, we get her professionally groomed every 6 weeks and yes, we are so grateful that she doesn't shed.....but it was time for a trim. Ruby stood still while we snipped her legs and tail with a…

Adventures with Ruby

Posted on January 17, 2016 at 10:39am 6 Comments

We got Ruby a year ago in December--as some of you may remember, the day after we got her at 8 weeks, my father-in-law got extremely ill. We took our brand new pup and spent the next 5 days in a nursing facility round-the-clock with him until he died. Ruby was a champ, making friends with all the residents, cheering up everyone, becoming a favorite with visiting Hospice folks.

Then we made a trip by car from Colorado to California and back for the funeral. After that we…

Ruby is usually game for anything as long as she is with her people.

Right now I am trying to teach her to read.
