What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
We have one Labradoodle, Casey, born 07/03/09. We also have an 8 year old Corgi and a 10 year old Chocolate Lab. It's a happy pack!
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Breeder
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
We researched the breed extensively, and Doodles seemed ideal!
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
Casey is in integral part of our routine. We cuddle in the mornings. He keeps my retired husband company during the day. Casey gets his "Walkies!" every afternoon, sits with us on our front porch saying "hi" to neighbors and their dogs, and enjoys playing fetch and getting his "brushies" every night. He's a delight!
Does your doodle(s) shed?
Nope!
Who grooms your doodle(s)?
I brush him daily. He gets his trims at West End Grooming
I'm not a member of Dixie's Doodles (I am an Austinite though!), but I saw your post in the group about dog daycare and just wanted to recommend Camp4Paws on Burnet just before 45th. It's where I take my dog now and the prices are pretty great. Every time I pick him up, he is so tired he sleeps the rest of the day (wahoo!) The only bummer is their latest pick-up time is a little early. I really liked Taurus as well, but they are more expensive.
I see the resemblance too! I would love to have a playdate with Casey and the girls. You are absolutely right, they literally stop traffic sometimes. People want to know what breed they are. It also makes it very hard to train them not to jump when they greet people.
I tell my friends that I need a T-shirt that says, "They are Labradoodles. Please ignore them until they sit."
I want to train them as therapy dogs. Thye bring such joy to everyone they meet. I think we would all have a great time at the children's hospital!
Issy was born February 3, 2010 to Lilli and Deekie. Mila was born May 1, 2010 to Flannery and Deekie. They're 1/2 sisters! They just love each other and spend a lot of time playing chase and keep-away from one another. They are very spirited but are very well behaved -- all things considered. They took a couple of weeks to adjust to one another but are joined at the hip now. It was tough at first - trying to find the balance of establishing order and alowing them to sort things out between the two. I think we have it down now! :))
I have been taking them to West End for nail trimmings and quick shampoo/blow dry just to get them socialized to the groomers. Issy is due for her first real groom really soon.
What or who do you recommend there? About how much does it cost for a complete basic groom?
It's great to meet you and, yes, we live in South Austin.

He was a black schipperke :( It was just a bad breeder. Its not like we gave up on him. We had him 7 yrs. The trainer actually made me feel so much better after talking to her.
I had always thought I was good with dogs until him. Yes, we are very excited about Lucy. My kids keep playing with her toys. (They are 3 &5) My daughter wants to get clothes for her. Poor thing will be girly even if she does not want to be! :) We have our vet visit set up for Monday. She already has a string of people that want to meet her.

The trainer that we are going to use had to have surgery. So I am guessing it will be a month or so until we can have her out to our home. I have been around dogs all my life but these dogs are smart! I would love to keep her in training. Actually, I need to be trained! I guess since our last dog was SO SO SO hard (bad breeding) in EVERY way I am expecting a hard pup. I can't wait to see this is not the way! I cant wait to smell puppy breath!
Yeah! I hope Lucy is a quick learner too! I just found out that my friend is on her way home with a goldendoodle! Hopefully we can get the pups together! Did you use a trainer with your pup?
Yellow girl :) When I met with Dixie I went out there to learn more about the breed. My husband and I where not 100% sure yet. Dixie was great. Gave us SO much information and answered all of our questions. We had a bad breeder experience and we where worried about that again. She put us at ease right away!! I really focused on the older dogs. Who doesn't love a puppy? I fell in love with them. Even my husband who is a hard sell did too. I thought it would take some time to talk him into it. He left saying he loved them. This will be my biggest dog. I am excited to see her with our kids. My daughter is THRILLED she is a girl and picked out everything possible in PINK! My Dad's neighbor is already requesting a visit bc he is interested in getting one. I hope she learns to love her crate quickly! :) Especially at night!
Yes, she is from Dixie's Doodles! We pick her up this Sat! :) We could have picked her up earlier but I had the race for the cure this weekend and meetings this week. I don't want to leave her for a big chunk of time. Sounds like the same parents! Your pup looks SO much like R! This is my first doodle and we are so excited. I feel like I am getting ready for a baby! Its been a long time since we had a pup around here!
