Do all doodles like to "hold hands?"

Started this discussion. Last reply by Amanda Brackel Mar 3, 2014. 26 Replies

I'm just curious… our Dood constantly "holds hands."  If we are sitting on the couch, he puts his paw up and we have to "hold" his paw.  This can go on all night.  If people come over and he sits in…Continue

Behavior Change after grooming....??

So Ridley was groomed and b/c we had let him get matted, they pretty much sheered him.  Nothing left on his bod.  He's been groomed twice before in his 18months of life, as our usual routine is…Continue

When people get hurt from Doodles' zoomies

So, Ridley broke my mom's foot. :-(  He was zooming around the yard with his other doodle buddy and wasn't looking where he was going.  He ran right into my mother, knocking her off her feet which…Continue

Mat Zapper, Puppy/Adult Coat and what to do?

I try to read most of the posts about grooming but still remain a bit confused!  There was a thread that went around about posting pics of their groomed doodle to give people more ideas.  That would…Continue

Great, thanks!  Your dog is adorable and from reading your other posts, it sounds like we (my girlfriend and I) are looking for a dog similar to yours or at least have some of the concerns/questions you had early in the process.  We're looking for a dog who has a shaggy profile like yours, perhaps the same color as yours or more apricot/red.  Is your dog an F1 or F1b?  Finding a quality breeder seems somewhat daunting as it's hard to see through the advertising.  One breeder I called today who is listed as a recommended breeder on goldendoodles.com made me a little uncomfortable when she was hesitant to recommend (let alone name) a forum other than goldendoodles.com.  In many cases, some of these breeders don't want you to visit out of fear of Parvo, yet want a non-refundable deposit to be on a waiting list, which makes it hard to vet whether they are a dependable and trustworthy breeder.  How did you get over that?  Who did you end up considering and eventually getting your doodle from?  We're also in the greater Philadelphia area.  Thanks again for replying!

I have sent you a friend request so I can speak with you about breeders more specifically. Also, please do some reading on our site to give you a better idea about doodles--for example, many doodles shed!! There is a lot of misinformation out there about this "breed"--it is a mix, so you never know exactly what you will get! Some doodles are shy and anxious (see the anxiety group!) and some are very rambunctious--so when you go to see pups at a breeder's facility, the most important thing is temperament!! The breeder may also have an idea of coat type but if non-shedding is important to you, you should look for a fairly curly pup--an F1b is a labradoodle crossed back to a poodle and may have a curlier coat for example. If the breeder only has F1s, they are great dogs, but some may have more issues with shedding--
