He was listed in the shelter as an Otterhound - what a joke! Look up Otterhounds - they are pretty rare and HUGE. He was listed on the chip as and Old English Sheep dog - another HUGE dog. The rumor we heard was that he was owned by an older woman, but when the shelter tried to contact her from the chip info. there was no answer - - perhaps she passed away, perhaps she got really ill. He was picked up as a stray. He appeared to have been pretty well cared for other than being filthy etc. so we don't know if he got out or if he was dumped. Make sure to join the Southern California group so you will know when the next romp is. We live in Riverside so if nothing else perhaps we can meet in the middle sometime. Our daughter lived in Indian Wells a few years ago when she was in the mortgage industry.
I can't wait to see more pictures of him as his coat grows out. He was so happy to get out of the shelter that he just hopped right into our car. One thing we noticed is that he is quick. If we hadn't had hold of him he would have shot out of the car without us when we took him to the foster and he hopped out of the foster's car when she had taken him to the vet. He didn't appear to be a runner, but this may be how he ended up in a shelter in the first place.
OMG! Is this 'Oscar' from the DRC? My husband and I are the ones who recognized that he was a doodle and pulled him from the shelter. If it is, double welcome! If it isn't welcome and thank you for adopting a rescue. Please join the Southern California group. We have meet ups about once a month, usually at Arbor Dog Park in Seal Beach. It is posted in the Events section and I can give you more information if you wish.

Love the name Ozzie for him. Does he shed?
