Hey Steve, I just saw an episode of 'Today's Homeowner with Danny Lipford' last night, and he may have had the answer to your hole problem. His suggestion was to use landscaping lumber (it looked to be about 4"x4"x6'), dig a trench several inches deep to set the post/beam/whatever into, and then secure it to the nearest fence post so it doesn't move. It runs along the fence line at ground level. I thought of you as I watched it. As for filling holes, I don't know what your winter weather is like, but if its wet and rainy like ours here in Oregon, I'd think about filling them when its drier. Right now our back yard is basically mud with grass on top. We've had to resort to taking Lucy out front because the backyard is impossible.

Lucy just ate the dried moss from the top of an artificial plant we have in the entry hall. I was busy in the kitchen and my husband had fallen asleep in the study. After too much quiet I came investigating and saw the moss all over the floor and Lucy with a mouthful. I swear we have to watch her like a hawk! I hope the moss she ate isn't toxic!

Your doods look so sweet on the couch. At least they sleep (or so it appears). When Lucy is allowed on the sofa she's way too restless to take a nap. She'd rather sleep on the hard cool tile anyway. Have a great Turkey Day! We'll be entertaining at home with family... I'm looking forward to it!

Yeah, the secret to our white, fluffy doodle! Lol...I have a thing about the floors, too, and keeping them clean... just one of my pet peeves. I wish I had an answer to your digging dilemma. All I know is an electric fence is a bad thing. Maybe you could get some smallish boulders to put into the ground around the perimeter of your yard?

Lucy stays in her crate when we both leave the house. We're never gone for more than a few hours at a time, and Lucy loves her crate. She goes into it when we're home as well, with the door open, just to take a nap. She's no where near being trusted to have free run of the house when we're gone. She's never had separation anxiety issues.

Yes, Lucy does sleep on her back occasionally, I've noticed, and if she's lying with you she will sprawl out on her back as you mentioned. But I don't see it so much otherwise. She does like belly rubs :) Have a great weekend!

Oh, btw, going out with Lucy to do her business makes easy work of picking up her poo at the same time. We use flushable poop bags, so no mess, no fuss (and no smell in the garbage bin!).

Steve, to be frank, we would probably have a digging problem with Lucy, too, if she had free reign in the backyard. I'll tell you a little secret (due in part to embarrassment)... we take Lucy out to do her business in the backyard on a leash. Always. My goal is to have her trained to go to one specific area and then back inside, by herself, but that day isn't here yet. The possibility of Lucy digging is the exact reason for us doing this. Sure, it makes it inconvenient for us to go out with her every single time, but we keep raincoats and outdoor crocs by the back door to make it easier. I'm not suggesting you do this. But, we don't have a digging problem :)
