I'm not sure how old a puppy should be before learning to swim, but I think the sooner the better....my doodles were around 6 months old when they were fetching balls from the water and swimming....I did not even train them to swim, it was natural for them.

It is most important to dry inside the ears thoroughly after swimming to avoid a possible ear infection. Keep the ear hair plucked (use hemostats) and dry the ear canal with cotton balls and a drying ear creme or ear powder. These items are available at most pet supplies....I also have it available on my website.
