Once again, Duncan and I will be participating in Walk MS Philly! It's so hard to believe that this will be the third year that he and I take this walk together. I love the opportunity to bond with my pup and to know that it is helping to make a difference. People love coming up to Duncan for cuddles and to take pictures of him in his team t-shirt, and I am glad we can create some smiles :)
If any other DK members are participating with their doods, let me know so we can…

I was so excited to open my email recently and see that there was a date selected for the annual doodle romp in Dewey Beach, DE (Doodles in Dewey)! My husband and I went for the first time last year, and we had such a wonderful time. I was having a really rough couple of months at work around this time last year, and we diced to make a whole weekend out of it. We never traveled with Duncan before and didn't really know what to expect, but everything worked out so well. We stayed at a fabulous…

I realized I am WAY behind on my DK news and decided to get back into the swing of things by posting about yesterday's milestone. My sweet pup has crossed the threshold into adulthood. I have no idea how it happened - only yesterday we were running through the house with a peeing puppy trying to teach him to potty outside, then all of the sudden it's February 7, 2014 and he's not a puppy anymore.
I hope we made it special for him. I know that here, on DK, it is safe…

We are really looking forward to Sunday! Duncan and I had such a nice time last year when we did the Paws for the Cause walk, and I know we will this year too. Not only is it a great cause, but it is also a chance to score some really neat dog swag from local vendors. Last year we picked up a handmade braided leash that is super comfortable, a $10 antler, and a few doggie baked goods. Hopefully we'll meet some local doodles too!
Duncan is doing really well with the photo…

Last week I wrote that Duncan and I will be participating in this year's Paws for the Cause walk with the Fox Chase Cancer Center. Each year, Paws for the Cause has a photo contest for the dogs who are participating in the walk. I am including the link below for anyone who would like to vote for my boy's photo. You would just need to "like" his picture on the Facebook page.…

Hello Everyone!
I posted this in my local groups but wanted to share as well.
On October 20th, Fox Chase Cancer Center is holding its annual Paws for the Cause walk. Duncan and I participated last year and we had a great time! As you can probably tell from the name, its a completely dog friendly event. The walk itself is only a mile, and there are a ton of vendors there selling some really great pet swag! And of course the money raised goes toward cancer…

I know there is a ton of great advice about this topic in the forum and food group (which I have read and am putting into practice), but this is less about seeking advice and more about just venting.
Duncan is in one of his "picky" phases right now, and it has me bummed out. He was a great eater until he was about my months old, and now he goes through periods of time where he wants nothing to do with his kibble. I am fairly certain that there is nothing actually wrong with him,…

Another successful MS Walk is in the books! Duncan walked with me for the second year in a row, and once again I was amazed at how well behaved he was despite the crowds, sights, sounds, and smells. We actually had to stop about half a dozen times so people could take pictures of my handsome boy in his Team Chetta Rita's t-shirt!
Thank you again for the DK members who supported this cause. I was amazed at the generosity of people we have never "officially" met :). Here are a…

Last year when I did the MS walk, a DK member suggested that I share the info ahead of time if I planned to do it again. Well once again Duncan Doodle and I will be participating in Walk MS Philadelphia! I was so proud of how well Duncan behaved with all the people, sounds, and smells, but mostly I loved the way he made people smile who were gathered for the cause. He was just a puppy and couldn't walk the whole distance, but I…

I was fortunate enough to meet a DK member (Jennifer and Darwin) in Duncan's last obedience class who had such wonderful things to say about this romp last year. I'm so excited to be going this year!

After several days of lounging around, I decided my boy needed to get out of the house. There was a Pet Expo in Oaks, PA that QS planned on going to, and Duncan is very good with crowds so we went with a few friends. Apparently they were administering the CGC test on site, though I didn't have any plans of doing that today, thinking Duncan might not be ready. Well the two friends I went with are both dog trainers and assured me that my doodle was very much ready. I decided to give it a shot,…

I'm really waiting for my Dood to catch a break here. Last Saturday he was acting funny. He kept running around in circles almost like he was trying to catch his trail, only he has never been much of a trail chaser. After watching him for a few minutes, it looked more like he was trying to get at something under his leg that was bothering him. I had him lay on the floor so I could do some investigating. I found some angry looking red spots far down on his groin Not liking the looks of…

Here is one of my quirks: If I am talking or otherwise distracted and someone hands me something, I will take it. Many of my friends know this and have entertained themselves by handing me trash mid-sentence, which I ALWAYS accept lol. It would appear that Duncan has discovered this flaw and is using it to his own advantage. When I am talking or looking at my computer, he "hands" me his antler. Apparently it is much easier for him to chew this way, and I will often look down to find I've been…

While it usually takes me much longer then the average millennial, I do eventually cave and try out the social media sites everyone is talking about. At first I didn't get the whole "Instagram" thing (you mean it's just for posting pictures??) But recently I've been having a blast posting photos with little effects to make them edgy. And m to make matters worse, I was introduced to #labradoodlesofinstagram. It's so much fun flicking through the doodle pics'

I found this YouTube video of Duncan from when he was a few weeks old. We were able to visit him at the breeder's house several times before he came home :).

I was looking back at some of my earlier posts begging for advice on raising my insane puppy. From biting, to potty training, to sleepless nights; it felt like we jumped over hurdle after hurdle. 8 months later, as my Dood is snoozing on the couch next to me I realized all the little changes that have made things much easier.
- Sleeping in. My husband and I have been married for 4 years and do not have children yet. So for now at least, we LOVE to sleep.…

I hope everyone had a safe and fun Halloween! This was Duncan's first, and he handled the costume, trick-or-treaters, and continuous knocking at the door very well.
Oh, and he was an airplane!

This past Sunday, my husband, Duncan, and I participated in Paws for the Cause; A dog walk to benefit patient care and research at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia. It was a fantastic event! We couldn't ask for more perfect weather, and we were surrounded by dog lovers and pet-friendly vendors. I can't wait to participate next year!

For the first five months of his life, Duncan Doodle was jet black. When we first went to see him, we were surprised that all 12 puppies were born with black fur, despite the fact that their father had a blonde coat (their mother was also black). Over the past month or so, we've noticed that Duncan has a brownish tint in certain parts of his fur which was never there before. It's most noticable in his beard and on his paws. Even more recently, we have noticed several long white hairs growing on…
