Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

For the first five months of his life, Duncan Doodle was jet black. When we first went to see him, we were surprised that all 12 puppies were born with black fur, despite the fact that their father had a blonde coat (their mother was also black). Over the past month or so, we've noticed that Duncan has a brownish tint in certain parts of his fur which was never there before. It's most noticable in his beard and on his paws. Even more recently, we have noticed several long white hairs growing on his back between his shoulder blades.

Of course as his mommy I find all if this fascinating and cute, but I'm curious to hear about the color changes other doodle owners have experienced?

My Oliver who was solid black as a baby but at about 8 months he started getting a few long white hairs in his coat.  Now he has them all over at 2 yrs. old.  His Mom is a labradoodle who had dark gray hair with white hairs throughout and his Dad is a tan poodle.  I guess Ollie is taking after his Mom.

Roo is still black as night at four years old.  Tigger, however is also a rainbow.  He was a medium brown puppy, but now at four he has red, silver, all shades of brown on him.  He is officially called cafe au lait.

Oh wow, blue skin? That sounds so neat :). Duncan's looks all white. The white hairs have sprouted up quickly, so I am wondering if I'll have a salt-n-pepper doodle by the time he is a year old? LOL!

Zoe was jet black with white paws and a white chest. Now most of her white paws grew out but now she looks like she's wearing grey pants. She has whiye sprinkles on her back. And her nose has red and brown fur. I wonder if she will turn blue like kona because she has blue skin too!

I have a chocolate, and while she is still very chocolatey, she is lighter. She has lots of silver hairs sprinkled along her back, and clumps of silver on her ears and tail. She has a blonde nose.

I love the various colours our doods are!

Kona was so jet black when we got him that we could hardly get a photo of him! Now at 5 y.o. he is blue (I recently learned his accurate color name on this wonderful site). His coat changed slowly until he was about 3 1/2, I think. He has a little bit of brown on his face but other than that he is what I used to call pewter until I found out about the blue coat. His skin is bluish. What color is your pup's skin?
