Hello all, haven't been very active as of late, my grandmother passed away and I've been adjusting to that. I will say Brisco has been amazing during this time, sensing my emotions and really comforting me.

But he needed some comforting himself here recently bc he got very ill, very fast. It started on a Friday, we woke up to find he had vomited Thursday's dinner up completely undigested. He had eaten around 7 pm on Thursday and around 8 am Friday morning it all came up. At first I thought he might have just gotten sick from something the day before bc we were at the dog park for a cpl hours. Of course I asked the Google  (as my son would say) and most said if it was just a one time thing no big deal, it happens. So we just were keeping a close eye on things. He didn't want to eat breakfast and then seemed to be less interested in wanting to interact with us. A cpl hours later he vomited again, this time it was more watery. I called the vet and they told me to give it a few more hours to see if there was any change, again thinking maybe he just got something that didn't sit well with him at the dog park. But after a cpl more hours Justin and I knew it was something else. He had been laying by the carport door (which is unusual itself ) for several hours not wanting to interact with us at all. Finally I said something isn't right and Justin carried him to the car.

When we got to the vet they took a fecal sample and done some blood work only to discover that he tested positive for whipworms. Which was actually good news to us bc it was something that could be treated and cured. I can't believe how happy we were over worms lol. Before you start wondering yes he was on medication but when we got him we switched from Trifexis to Sentinel so the only thing the vet figured is that there was some kind of lapse there and bc we frequent the dog park he picked it up there. We got a bag of fluids at the vets office given to him and 3 days worth of white liquid medicine and headed back home.

But I will say the next few days were tough, they made him very ill in what seemed like an instant. I of course continued to worry Friday night bc he didn't move. And no place on the Internet tells you that they can be that sick, even though the vet said it was normal I still panicked a little. He was basically lethargic for a cpl of days, not eating, not drinking just laying there. By Sunday evening he at least was taking a few sips of water which had me grinning from ear to ear. Then by Monday he had a bowel movement and thats when things started to look up. He still didn't have much of an appetite for several days and wasn't very energetic but he at least started to engage with us again. Coming and laying with us on the couch again and wanting affection. I will say though he did diarrhea in the house, it was during the middle of the night which lead to me sleeping on the couch for week so I could get up and let him out all thru the night. The medicine causes diarrhea which is good for him actually because he getting his intestines cleaned out. I will say he is finally back to himself, eating normally, playing ect. We go back to the vet this Saturday for a check up, they will do another fecal test just to make sure that we are cleared of the worms. I think we will be but I'm keeping my fingers crossed until then. I will say that I now know that Justin loves Brisco just as much as I do, bc he helped clean up vomit and diarrhea and carried him to bed every night. Him, my son and I was all so terrified and then so relieved and thankful to know that he's going to be just fine.

Thanks everyone.
And yes I have to agree with you about doodles being great at comforting you. With out a doubt Brisco knew I was having a hard time (we are a very close family, we had Sunday dinner every Sunday for well over my 28 yrs alive).
It was terrible watching him then get sick I have to admit I cried. I imagined the worst. Lucky us he is back yo his funny, playful, loving self.

I am sorry to hear your grandmother recently passed. It is very difficult to lose someone you have a close connection with. Brisco will be a huge source of comfort to you and your family- these doodles are very good at that. I hope happy times are coming!
