About a month ago, we decided to let Luna roam the bedroom at night instead of being locked in her crate. It was starting to get warm in the bedroom so we thought she might enjoy spending some time on the cool wood floor.
We quickly realized that in the morning Luna decided it was time for us to get up... and let us know by licking any exposed body parts within her reach. This was pretty annoying if we wanted to sleep in!
One day... my fiance tried saying "Luna go to sleep"... and to our surprise she dutifully walked over to her crate and lay down!
We were thinking about it, and we figured out we accidentally trained the command by saying "go to sleep" every time we locked her in her crate at night.. and my fiance says it every morning when he leaves for work and I'm still in bed.
Accidental training can be rewarding! Makes me wonder what other things (good or bad) we have trained her to do...

What a good girl! When Trav was a baby and I was first trying to teach him to walk on a leash, I gave him a treat when he was walking well and in place. Because he was small then and hadn't yet learned to take a treat without maybe getting some fingers too, I just dropped the treat and waited for him to pick it up and eat it. So, we were walking along one day and he just stopped, stood there and stared at me. I couldn't figure out what was wrong, until I realized he was waiting for a treat. What he'd picked up from leash training was the part about getting a treat when we stopped walking!
Love it when it works out that way!!!!
