I have difficulty letting go of seasons!

Once all the leaves have fallen off the trees, and they dry up and go crunch under my feet, I must force myself to adjust to yet another change in seasons.

Right after the Autumnal Equinox (September) when the sun is directly over the equator, the sun’s direct rays shift into the southern hemisphere for the next six months as I struggle to accept that my summer is officially OVER.

“Indian Summers” in Virginia are becoming more and more of a common occurrence. Indian Summer is a heatwave in the autumn months where we experience above- normal temperatures accompanied by dry and hazy conditions.

But eventually we’ll have a sudden drop in temperature with an increase in wind strength to remind me that fall is in the air, and we are rapidly approaching the end of the year.

This adjustment period is always hard for me because my body just can’t seem to let go of the summer. The Boys of course love the drastic weather shift…

Harley makes his rounds in the neighborhood while I take out the trash

Harley could spend hours in the leaves…

Nothing like a lawn full of leaves for a pup to rummage through

And we all know Leo wants to “live” outside…

Leo is outside so much some would think he was a lawn ornament

Shorts and flip flops have been replaced with jackets and long pants so I guess it’s official..

Today leaves, tomorrow snow!

My problem? Should I try and “skimp” on the outdoor activities, Leo will find something to remind me that it is in my best interest for him to get his regularly scheduled “recess” if I’m home…

This used to be a jewelry gift box!

So I guess it’s time for me to dig out my gloves, hat, and scarves and bundle up for the next few months….

Hi Donna, I'm from NY myself, and I don't think I can take the cold there after being away so long. Leo started jumping in the bed with me until I start to fall asleep and then he jumps out. I appreciate his weight warming the bottom of the bed for me. Take care and thanks for reading!

Your doodles are so beautiful. Oh, those cream coats. Makes you want to snuggle them. Well, that would keep you warmer, right. I "force" Bay to lay on my feet now. New York is freezing today! Brrrrrrrr.
