Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I am really starting to think that there really is such a thing as the "doodle fever".  We laugh and tease about it in my family, and we now proudly have a total of 6 doodles in the family.  I am beginning to wonder, is the fever real??  My first doodle, Magnet, who turned 2 on Aug 2nd, is the culprit who started this whole "fever" thing.  It's all her fault :)  I knew for years that a doodle would be my next dog.  When the time was right, I found her and now because of her, we are a bunch of crazed doodle maniacs.  There are several doodles in my town, when I see them, I almost wreck the car to look at them. I have found myself running across a huge park yelling "STOP I WANNA MEET YOUR DOODLE" after spotting it like a hawk.  I get really excited, like a little kid when I see another doodle.  When I meet another doodle and their owner, I almost feel like we are family.  I was driving down the road the other day, and I passed a mini van driven by a woman, and in the middle, ducking his head under the review mirror, was a big ol' doodle head.  I had to honk and wave.  I think that woman probably thought I was nuts.  I wondered if I was the only one, but, I have recently found out I am NOT the only one.  I was out in the yard the other day puttzing around the dogs were out and about in the yard as well, and the cross country team was running by, one of the girls on the team starting jumping up and down yelling "OMG they're doodles, Patti look, they're golden doodles" she said to her running partner.  She was so excited and yelled to me "I have a goldendoodle who is 5 months old, your dogs are beautiful, I love them"  as she was running in place.  Her friend obviously wasn't impressed and pulled the girl along and I waved back and yelled "thank u".  That young girl had the "fever", I could tell.

I work in customer service, and one of my regular customers and I engaged in a conversation about dogs.  He asked what kind of dogs I had and I proudly told him all about my girls.  He just giggled and said "I have a doodle too"  best dog I ever owned.  I could have just died.  All these years I knew this man, I had no idea we were family lol  About a week later, his wife came in and I waited on her.  She had a history of being a grumpy kind of woman in the past.  She wasn't a mean or nasty woman, but just a little grumpy.  I broke the news to her lightly that we were family, and as soon as I told her I had 2 doodles, her eyes lit up and she puffed her chest out and was a different person talking about her dog "Graham".  I actually seen a twinkle in her eye that I have never seen in her before.  I warn everyone I know, these dogs are dangerously addicting. Once you catch the "fever", you can't shake it for nothing.  I feel like I live and breathe doodles, and I'm loving every moment of it. One doodle is never enough.  I caution anyone getting a doodle, plan on ending up with 2, it happens quite often. I have 3 dogs total, and that is plenty.  But, I have fantasy's about having a rainbow of doodles, one of every color.  I promise here and now, mark my words, if i win the lottery, I AM GETTING a doodle of every color.  Am I crazy??

I only have one doodle and I have the Doodle Fever! I drive around the block if I think that I saw a doodle. I pull over to chat with people walking their doodles. Most people are friendly but once in a while there is one that looks a little frightened! LOL!!  Yep, I'm with ya!

I often pass a woman walking her doodle as I drive home from work - I can't tell you how hard it is not to pull over and meet her doodle!  I very happily belong to this crazy doodle family.

You describe me perfectly!   I have no shame when it comes to approaching (sometimes at a run!) perfect strangers when I see they have a Doodle in tow!   And almost everytime without exception they're just as enthusiastic as I am (and DH!) about talking about their Doodle and ooo'ing and ah'ing about our Doodle.     I do feel like we're all somehow related....and I'm always looking closely to see if maybe I've seen this Doodle on DK....which inevitably I bring into the converstation.    Always promoting DK!!!!

Just a little crazy. I have two doodles but I lust after a red coated, rose nose doodle. But two is enough and sometimes your reach should be longer than your grasp : )

We got Cubbie and then 2 years later added Ollie to our family (it is hard to have just one).  My new SIL caught the fever and is working on convincing my brother that they need to add a doodle to their family (they already have a black lab).  He is resisting, but I know it is only a matter of time until she is a proud doodle owner too!!

What a great post and how true.  There aren't many Doodles in Ireland but when we do spot one we practically levitate with excitement here.  My partner came in from work last week to tell me excitedly that one of the restaurant owners in our little town has a Goldendoodle. We are both on constant Doodle watch!

Riley has a fan club in the town and I am now used to stopping every few moments on my daily walks to meet and greet them LOL
