Away From Home and Missing My Doodle

I left Virginia Thursday to attend my Dad’s funeral in Rome, GA. Friday. (Left Haley at home with DH.) It began snowing Friday at Noon in Rome just as the funeral began. By the time the service and reception afterward were over the ground was white.

The return trip to Atlanta that afternoon was an adventure that I don’t care to repeat. Being a country girl for the last 15 years I have trouble driving in traffic and we hit Atlanta in rush hour traffic in the snowstorm!

This morning Decatur where I am staying with my sister is beautiful. Took a walk around her neighborhood and wish I had Haley Doodle with me. There were lots of people walking their dogs and a beautiful lake with ducks and geese. Haley would have had a ball.

When I talk to DH on the phone he puts the phone up to Haley’s ear so that I can say a few words to him. Haley wags his tale like crazy while I am talking to him.

Hopefully I will be able to leave for home tomorrow and be with DH and Haley tomorrow night.

I know how you are feeling right now. My daughter and her husband who live in San Jose, CA wanted to attend a friend's 30th birthday in Los Angeles. They have my grand-pup Luna who is an 8 month old Rhodesian Ridgeback. Luna has visited our house three times in San Diego and we drove up for Christmas with Gracie Doodle. I also have made trips up here to help out when they first got Luna and were also moving into their first house. Luna knows me well! They haven't found a place yet to leave Luna should they want to travel and are working on establishing something with a friend they have made who also has a Ridgeback. So, I offered to fly up and doggie sit. I took Luna to her dog park today and met an 18 mo. old Labradoodle whose name was Copper. He was a little darker than my Gracie Doodle who is an Apricot Goldendoodle but he had so many similarities. When I watched Luna and Copper play I remember her playing with Gracie the same way. The Doodle play is very distinct! I started really missing my baby and just wanted to get a big Doodle kiss and hug. Gracie Doodle is home in San Diego with my DH. I won't be home until Tuesday so I have a few more days ahead of me before I get the Doodlekiss!

I had to leave my Murphy 2 times in the year (one year ago today) the we had him and I was so sad to be even a day without him. The phone helped me feel like at least he remembered me, which ofcourse Haley will and that little tail will be wagging full speed when you are back !!!! Sorry to hear about your dad.

I am sorry to hear of your loss. I lost my mom in late December and I have to say my doodle really made a big difference. He made me laugh and cuddled with me like he knew. Good luck it's not easy. Haley will help.
