Baby Shower Blues

I have to go to a Baby shower in a little while.  Anyone else hate showers as much as me?  Plus, I have to leave Quincy and the DH on the first warm day of spring to sit in a room with a bunch of women and ooh and aah about baby stuff when I would much rather be tossing around a ball or taking a walk with the boys.  I thought about bringing Quincy, but don't have the nerve to show up with him in tow.  To make it even more trying- her sisters, who are throwing the party, came up with a theme- Spring! and asked everyone to dress in flowered clothes and wear a spring bonnet.  So out came the glue gun to adorn the straw hat with the $ worth of fake flowers I bought at Michaels.  Have to admit, it came out cute.  Unfortunately I have a second degree burn on my finger.  it's been a long time since I had the glue gun out and I forgot how darn hot the glue gets and stays!  

Well, the Mom and Dad to be are really sweet- he was my ring bearer in our wedding- and the whole family is dear to us.  Which reminds me that only I have to go and not DH.  But I will put on a good face and keep thinking up excuses to leave early when I know darn well I will be sitting there til the bitter end, snacking on lady like appetizers, smiling and oohing and aahing.

I'm so with you on this one! I am not a shower person and for years I was the one giving showers to a gaggle of girls first for weddings and then babies. I was the only one with a house and these girls were precious to me. I avoid showers like the plague, and people who think up shower games are just not my friends. Your hat is cute but that burn was definitely not worth it. OUCH!!

I'm with ya Lori ! I am NOT a shower person. Sitting around with more people that I probably don't know, than do know. Awful games that some people take as seriously as betting at the track. Plus, the folks that bring along their "entertaining"  young children. Oh hell no !! Then there is the gift competition. "Ooooh, that one is mine!" and "What was she thinking buying one of those?" UGH

That is not my idea of a fun time. Don't get me wrong, I'd feel that way if the shower was for me as well. Showers just bring out the worst in people.
