Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
The DH took Quincy for a 4 mile walk sometime way before I felt like moving so I got to roll over (haha, I already know that trick)...and then be awakened with the bounding sound of footsteps up to our bedroom and a jump on top of me (my most favorite way to wake up - at least these days-) and then we had some play tug. Then breakfast and off to TRICKS class at the same school we took him for Puppy Kindergarten and Family Dog I. (best place on LI- message me for more info since I am not sure I can advertise here)...Quincy did really well, I felt like a spazz, I have a hard time with the clicker timing,
but overall we have some good foundation for teaching him some awesome tricks. One is to fetch a tissue if you sneeze. Not high on my list, but my son thinks it is a riot, so you know how that goes: we will do whatever our sons/daughters desire!
We were delighted to see a former classmate from Family dog at Tricks- a super duper charged up yellow lab who looks exactly like our Morgan (who we lost 3 or so years ago)Shown here with our son .As loving and adorable "Lucky" is- we are glad we have the much more mellow (and quiet) Quincy this time around (not that we woul give up a moment of Morgan-love!) There is also a beautiful collie-but the owner had to drag out the vacuum to clean up the fur when they left. another blessing from our no shed doodle.
As to the curriculum, we are all going to learn not only the tissue trick, but a piano playing performance as well! Yeah- it's gimicky, but it is still intense training time and it is fun with a big payoff for showing off. Quincy has 2 trial attorneys for parents, we can't help wanting a captive audience!
Once we finished class today with the awesome Ellen, we headed to PetSmart to check out their facilities for DayCare. Very clean large room, glass enclosed so shoppers and all can see the pups, with very attentive young people in the room watching the 16 max dogs. (I bet they don't get paid enough)
there was an aggressive dog that was very wet (they use a spray bottle with water to try to break up inappropriate behavior) who had a sweet yellow lab pup in a hold a few times. Made me a bit uncomfortable but finally, the German Shephard was ushered to "time out" and the rest of the pack ran around. We were told that these more aggressive dogs are watched and put in kennels if they over power. Once it was again all sweet labs, doodles and little guys, it calmed down. The attendant blew bubbles, which was a fun interlude for the dogs and also threw balls and gave a pat here and there. We will give it a try since Quincy does need to be with other dogs. The "kids' seemed very dedicated to the dogs welfare and fun. Fingers crossed (paws double) please.
So then it was home, DH went to do the shopping (I am blessed) and me an Quince had to try out the new Kong toy. Big hit!
Also played with snow as it- thankfully melted in the glorious 55 degrees! heaven! I was just about to take the Quince man up for a bath when the DH suggested a walk to the beach! Why not! Who can resist a 55 degree day in March. So we headed out and got to see Quincy romp in the water trying to catch a seagull. There were too many kids on the beach, so we could not let him go free, but he still had a great romp.
Home now meant a BATH for sure. I should have had my camera in the bathroom, missed his wet doodle sad I hate this look, but he is CLEAN!! and one tired pup!!
He literally cannot keep his eyes open. I know he is dreaming about his wonder Doodle Day!

Oh, this is such a wonderful narrative of your day and I love the last photo of Quincy all tuckered out on a pile of beach towels. Sweet!
