We are home again, safe and sound and Quincy is enjoying having my son home, too. We had quite the adventure with my good boy proving in the end, he is still a puppy!
He was sooo good on the nearly 8 hour car ride up, sitting high on his bed right behind and nearly between us. The AC vent that blew cold air out the center console was his fav, and I think also that he was so close to us and could see out the front windshield.
As some of you may recall, I debated on bringing his crate, but in the end, it was just not going to fit in the car either going and especially not coming home.
We did bring his big bed, and he settle in nicely, next to the air bed we slept on. Of course, he had his favorite toys with him as well.
Graduation day we left him with some trepidation since the apartment was upside down with our stuff and trying to organize my son's stuff for the move. But we made him his cream cheese Kong and left him on the bed. We did hear barking when we left, but the neighbors reported later that he settled in just fine. He was probably still tired from the car and the long walk we took him on that morning along the river walk. Just beautiful there.
Graduation was a success and when we got back, all was fine! What a big boy! He loved all the attention, too
He loved the girl's short dresses! One of the girls was actually afraid of dogs, but Quincy won her over.
Well, up to this point Quincy was the model guest! No worries with potty, barked only a few times at people in the hall, and generally was just unbelievable for an 11 month old pup.
But, then we got over confident! We went out for lunch and by then the place was really upside down with cartons half packed, etc. I carefully placed all the food on the table, in the center as Quincy has never counter surfed, thinking it was safe. Ha. He is a dog and a pup at that. Here is what we came home to:
I actually thought it was pretty funny, but my son insisted I make it known by my tone of voice that it was not! This is the "worst" thing he has ever done, and really it was not so bad. It was totally our fault for giving him so much temptation. He has only been crate less and alone a few times, so I should have predicted this. I don't think he even ate any. My son's check book was also in the mix, along with packing peanuts, cardboard and just a general mess.
Later, we found a Magic Marker that had actually been disassembled with the ink insides taken out. It was right under the covers. Miraculously it was not all over his mouth or those beautiful light wood floors.
The other miracle is that we actually got everything packed, the movers came and we even managed to get the excess "stuff" into the car!

Love the pictures and the story!
I think he was loving the River Walks so didn't want to move ... so he was unpacking!
Congratulations to your son on his graduation and to Quincy for an almost-perfect trip!! :)
LOL! Quincy, you were so close to being the perfect house guest!
Great pictorial, Lori!
Quincy, I think you deserve a gold star for best pup in the move!
HA HA HA Looks like Quincy had the time of his life. I, too, would have laughed at the mess thinking it was funny.
Love the Cheesy-Poof bed!
Kudos to you for taking Quincy's little adventure in unpacking in stride! And to him for being such a good boy so much of the time.
LOL, Quincy!
Quincy---good boy!! Well, except for those little unpacking errors. :) Glad it all went well.
