I just had a scare which could heve turned into a catastrophe. Luckily the catastrophe was adverted by the timely intervention of my loyal computer technician.

I bought a new computer and had the hard drive from my old computer installed as an "E" drive. Well, the old hard drive failed and froze up the entire computer system.

I had myimages backed up on an external hard drive but, not the rest of my data. It is amazing how much "IMPORTANT STUFF" is on a hard drive.

Luckily, my technician got the computer working again and transferred all the data from the old hard drive to the enormous 1.5 TB drive on my new computer. Additionally, I backed up all my data on an external drive.

I can sleep more soundly. I recommend that everyone have some sort of back up system in place, whether it be manual backup or auomated.

Absolutely good advice. I just recently bought a 2 TB external drive for $129 and backed up all the important stuff. I love the little flash drives but with all the photos you also need a BIG backup drive.

At the prices of external drives these days, it pays to be redundant. My gosh! 1TB of external memory for $65... I am not specifically recommending this drive - just mentioning the price...

One of my external hard drives is dangerously close to pooping out, I'm going to go back everything up. Thanks for the reminder!
