My dogs got out because someone left the gate open. After looking and looking for them I found them in the worst spot ever!! On the very top
ledge of the dam, water gushing around them police and firemen taking
about "darting" them down. Which is about 100 feet up in the air and
fenced in.. all is fine now however... they are home covered with burrs and I'm having a drink!!

Oh that is so scary. Thanks for the update. I really wanted more details. Kids - you can't live with 'em and you can't shoot 'em!

Gosh I'm sorry I didn't update you all sooner on this. So what happened was my teenage son was in a rush to get to the beach behind our house and "thought" he heard the gate latch but whatever.. You all are so right, I did just about die when I saw them. I was at the bottom of the dam calling up to them but the water was so loud and I was standing in like 6 inches of green moss trying to talk them down. They just barked and barked but but would come down to me. The dam is very steep and hard to get down to the bottom. It is also fenced in on the sides so either they come down or we have to get a boat close to the edge at the dam and hope to be able to pull them in the boat.. After climbing back up the side by clinging the a wire fence and pulling my slimy self back up (which is like 150 to 200 feet I was wrong about that in the first post) I was out of breath. I left to go to the other side of the dam and called my boys to meet my on the other side. I thought I could get someone to open the gate over there. All I know for sure was when I got to the other side of the dam.. (I had to drive around two neighborhoods to get there) They were walking with my son. He said they came walking up from the bottom of dam area just as he got there.. I think when I left they must have got nervous I was leaving them and slid down.. They were covered with the moss along with burrs.. Now if I could just get them to leave the swans alone!!

So glad you have them back home safe and sound even if they're a little worse for wear.

OMG Have two drinks and some chocolate, maybe a few cookies. How terrifying. First they are out and "lost" and when you find them they are on the top of a dam. However did they get there and how did you get them back. I need a piece of chocolate just thinking about it. I am so glad it had a happy ending.

OMG...I don't drink except for an occasional beer or Mojito but I would have been clawing at the cabinets to find a bottle of anything!!! My heart went plop when you said "We found them"!!! How did you ever get them off the dam? I think I (myself) would be permanently traumatized! I am sooo glad they are safe and back in your arms. Can't get mad at them...just give them tons and tons of love!
