A couple of evenings ago Trav was sound asleep and I was deeply involved in a project. I sort of registered that I was hearing him whining, but thought he was having a dream. Finally realized that the whining was still going on, and found the poor little guy practically dancing by the door, wanting OUT!! Once the door was open, he bolted and barely made it to the grass before having a diarrhetic episode. I felt so bad for making him wait when his need was so urgent! The next morning he was fine, ate fine, energetic and playful.
At some point that morning, he stood by the door of his crate and whined. I was way more sensitive to whining at this point, so went right away to check it out. This crate is by the door and so far hasn’t been used for anything but storing toys, so I wondered if maybe one of his toys had gotten stuck in the wires. Instead, I found he had made a mess inside the crate. So I felt bad all over again! Trav has messed in the house only once, the first day he was here. I knew he’d had this accident the night before, when he just couldn’t wait any longer to get outside. Now he was telling me there was a problem in the crate. I praised him for letting me know and got the mess cleaned up. Still amazed by that–he sorta TOLD me that there was a problem in the crate! And he’d used the crate instead of the carpet, which was a very good thing. Sorry, ‘lil guy.
