So Allie had her first haircut yesterday. I almost cryed when I picked her up. She was so unique before and now I think she looks like a poodle. DH kept calling her a poodle this morning. Anyway I keep telling myself it will grow out. I think from now on I am going to just get her face cut and let the rest grow out. The groomer said I had done a good job with keeping her brushed because she did not find any matting so I think it is doable. Here are her before and after pictures.

don't worry too much, it will grow back. But this is exactly the reason why I am scared of groomers....So many people are not happy with the result although they spend hours of explaining to the groomer what they want.
I will also give it a try with Tyler myself - going to a groomer will only happen as the very last mean

by the way... that was supposed to be shaggy in my last comment! lol so much for typing in the dark! Let Allie gow out and keep brushing/combing the puppy coat to adult coat is the hardest transition.. for us! I LOVE how you are holding her like a baby in the before pic, it is just too cute.

The hardest part for the curly doodles seems to be blending the top of the head and the ears. My groomer sometimes gets it better than others.

Ali and Laurie, that's it. I did not realize that was what was bothering me. The ears do need to flow with the head. What kind of thinning shears would you recommend? I have to say I am a little bit scared to cut her. Shelly, I can completely understand blurting out something like that. That is too funny. I wish I had been a fly on the wall and caught her reaction. Now to find a groomer who can cut with scissors and not shears. In fact, I am going to get on the Memphis site and see if anyone knows of anyone.

I know how you feel. Trully , she still looks adorable and the poofy head will gow out. Sonny got a 1st, 2nd and 3rd bad haircut until finally I found a groomer who does not shave him! (the last one shaved his entire boday and just left his hsggu head and face.. looked ridiculous b/c it was all uneven)My current groomer did tell me he will never really be the way he used to b/c that was his puppy coat but she said she is working on growing out what happened to him in the other cuts and he will one day get a shag back. WINE helps!

I think if you spritz his head a little with some water and then thinning shear the top of the ears alittle bit right where the ear meets the head to blend it more ,Your before picturelooks like the top of the head flows with the ears .My groomer only cuts Jasper

Oh yes!! I wHined a lot, then hit the wine! LOL There are a lot of pics to choose from on here... search members' pics and bring a picture with you next time. Some-times that helps. I know how you feel I spent 20 minutes explaing what I wanted and discussing it with the grooming manager at Petco, only to go back 3 hours later to a dog that looked like a sheep. I was so upset, I almost cried right there!!! I even told the girl that i "HATED" it... I never actually would ever tell anyone that no matter what, but I guess I was just so in shock - the words just poured out of my mouth!

Nina, I tried the spritz and it worked a lot. Still not like what I wanted but much better. And Shelly, I definitely need to find someone who will trim with scissors and not a buzzer. I really like the shaggy look. I am hoping in a day or two it will calm down a little. Either that or a few glasses of wine will make me forget about it!!

Use a spray bottle and spritz her with water, this will allow her coat to curl and get rid of the poofy look. I always have to do this when I get Harlow back from the groomer. They always poof her out like a poodle.
