Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
We had our backyard prepped for winter seed yesterday and it is full of dirt, seed and haylike grass. Bella thought it was great fun rolling in it this morning and my white dog was black and white, an hour before our vet appointment so she got bath number 2 since sunday.
So we go potty on a leash now over to the graveled areas of the yard and Murphy can pee in a peanut butter jar, trying to hold still in a rocking-rolling RV, going 70 mph down the interstate, but Bella can't pee or poop anywhere but in HER grass, in HER yard, in HER own time.
Needless to say, we have had a lot of walks around the graveled yard today, and nothing! Finally one pee after ALL day.
How long can a doodle hold it I wonder. Crazy Bella. Just another quirk that makes me just chuckle at her doodle-ness.

Jackdoodle won't poop off-leash; he will only do it on a walk, unless the need is dire. We should get him and Bella together, maybe one will learn from the other.
As to how long they can hold it, when I first adopted him, he went 36 hours without eliminating; he wasn't sure where he was supposed to go, no matter how much I walked and encouraged him. Eventually, the dam busted.
Ollie held it for around 22 or 23 hours the first day we brought him home (I was a complete wreck) so I guess they can hold it for a long time if they don't feel comfortable enough to go. Cubbie used to be very particular about his potty spots but once he started going to doggy daycare he seems a lot more comfortable going outside at unfamiliar places. As long as Bella doesn't start going in the house, you should be fine. She will adjust. Plus it is good for her to try to learn to go somewhere else.
But did you seriously get Murphy to pee in a jar? if so, how?!??!!?
